absolute rubbish, clichy is one of the fastest fullbacks in the league, for the first time in recent years i actually dont feel scared shitless with our leftback when clichy plays. kolarov on the other hand scares the life out of me

This. Hulk is pretty quick and when he switched sides the other night Clichy dealt with him easily.

Tbf that is one awesome team but with FFPR probably unrealistic. I agree we need a class centre half. Savic is two seasons away from being class. Another striker and a pacy winger. Id take the two lads from Porto. Moutinho + Rodriguez looked class the other night and they`d be cheaper than Bale or Levezzi. Saying that if we do splash the cash Cavani is the one we need along with Thiago Silva.

Pizarro looks useful. If he continues to be, I hope we can keep him.

AJ and Tevez out, Bale and Lavezzi in would improve the first team options. Maybe a couple of money-loaded swaps there?

But I've got confidence in Mancini's judgement and management ability. He's done alright so far!

The only guy I'm certain we should let go is DeJong. I think DeJong is too specialized to keep. Zabba and others can offer similar when needed. I'd free a space up in the squad by letting him go in the summer.


I like him and wish him well but we need a player in the middle show can do it all.

I know it's tough but I think this might have to happen, maybe Mancini can coach De Jong not to dive into tackles

So for everyone is thinking Centre Half but how many would actually improve the Lescott & Kompany partnership

I thought Nige was being a little more circumspect t'other night v. Porto. When you want a specialist job doing, then de Jong's yer man. Can't think of anyone who can bottle up the midfield like he does. When you consider some of his previous (younger!) performances, he was a much more swashbuckling kind of player who had a decent scoring touch. I think his days at Hamburg have turned him into a one or two dimensional player. The goal he got at The Dippers shows what he can do, but I suspect that the instructions which Mancini issues pre-match preclude him going much further forward.

I'd like a transcript of the instructions for the Porto match, 'cos as the home team we played a very cagey game. I know that Porto have a sting - Joe's save and a couple of poor finishes - and that 4-0 was a flattering scoreline, but we seemed to be happy enough to let them come onto us and see how resolute the defending was!

Clichy has been great this year. Almost as good as Micah at RB. We need a replacement for AK.

Hulk was all over Micah last few games, Micah didnt even have a chance.
Porto almost scored their second goal, with the same type of ball from micahs side.
Both times the ball gets crossed from micahs side( he didnt learn from first game) only first time did the attacker get infront of clichy(he learned his lesson)

Hulk first tried too get past clichy a few times on his side, didnt really work, then he tried on micah, it worked everytime so he stayed there.

If we are too talk about the defensive abilities of our left/right backs, i would say micah still get somethng too learn.

He doesn't scare me.

I just accept he offers no defensive cover whatsoever. Just try to imagine he's not there and that the opponent will walk past him and then you won't be surprised when it happens. Again.

As one poster put it, "you might as well replace him with a traffic cone".
