Fuck me i remember that add as a kid and tbf it was damn nice stuff. However the portrayal of happy animals in the jungle was rather different from the reality there. I do believe they do NOT drink it in the Congo but prefer palm wine.
The portrayal of happy animals in the jungle may have taken it's inspiration from one of those Jehovahs Witness pamphlets. Perhaps a Jehovas missionary brought it back from the Congo? It would explain so many enigmas surrounding this mythical drink.

Can't get that tune out of my head now ! >:((((

Lyrics:

Way down deep in the middle of the Congo,
A hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango.
He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango.
The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo"

Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.

The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin.
The parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle,
They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Um Bongo!

Genius.

We bought an incredulous deal @Airport.
No one will believe us but it matters little.

We bought Tanqueray extra strength and normal retail is £22 to £26 in UK.
We bought it for 12.90 euros a litre.
That is around £11.90 a litre ..Hoorah Hoorah Hoorah..

And so that is what we are drinking.
Do not mix it 1 in 3 as it is 44% .
Mix it 1 in 4 with Shhhhhwepes and survive the evening.
Stay safe it's a jungle out there !

Corona extra ( I'm wheat intolerant, so there's only a few none specialist beers I can drink without getting ill, Corona, Duval) it was on offer at Waitrose for £4, goes well with a neat spiced rum !

Like that one.

I'm on Bishops Finger

For me it is my favourite bottle of choice.
Hints of caramel toffee and malt and a back taste of earthy goodness.
The earthy goodness originates from the east kent golding hops they utilse in the brewing proces which affords it it's signature.
Beautifully refreshing but not really a session ale @5.4%
Well done Shepard Neame

Have a quick read of this interesting snippit.
The finger has Protected Geographic Status – Bishops Finger can only be brewed in Kent, with ingredients from that county, indeed Shepherd Neame have gone further, insisting that it is only brewed on a Friday, by the Head Brewer, using mash tuns of Russian Teak that date back to 1914. The resulting brew is tasted each week by a member of the company’s Board of Directors, and blessed annually in a special Hop Blessing service at a local church.
People in Kent take their hops and their ales very seriously indeed.
Enough history… what does it taste like?

Well before we even get to open the bottle, you’re struck by the regal, purple and gold label. I can think of no other label that features purple, and it’s certainly distinctive, it oozes class. As you pour the beer you get a rich, white foamy head and a wonderful sound. It’s the first beer where I’ve actually noticed the rich sloosh of the pour. The head dissipates slowly, leaving a healthy lacing down the glass. The beer itself is a dark copper colour, a deep auburn almost titian.
You won’t be surprised to learn that, as you’d expect from people that take their hops so seriously, the nose is rich and hoppy, Goldings hops, deep and hoppy, not bright and flowery like an IPA, or a lager, but warm evocative autumnal notes that go really well with that auburn colour.

So why not go out to your local supermarket and try some.
Currently priced at £1.25 for a 500ml bottle.
This really is to savour and drink like a fine wine.
A potion for afficienadoes and fine pervayers of craft ale.
I dont understand how they do it for the price.

I dont want to dwell on the deed.
Made up of fifty regulars and two hundred and fifty conscript from the holiday resorts.
Many sung our praises calling us heroes but we just did our duty.
Years from now fans will talk little of Gillingham or York.
But they will mention The 300.

We in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he that special day that supped his ale with me
Shall be my brother be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That stood with us upon Gerona's day.
