What are you listening to.................RIGHT NOW!!!

Didn't know about flipping it for the US market, interesting. I have the 12" vinyl of Nobody's Diary, which has the original 7" inch mix of ND on the A side with a "re-recorded" version of Situation on the B side produced by Yazoo and Eric Radcliffe who went on to form The Assembly with Vince Clarke with Feargal as singer but a short lived project that one!
I may be wrong..but i thought Yazoo released 'Only you" as an A side in uk,7 " and 12" vinyl in a white picture sleeve, with Situation on b side.
That was their first ever uk release.
Nobodys Diary..was the 4th and final release, with "State Farm " as the b ..again in a predominately white picture sleeve....
Then...there is a US import 12 " with Situation as the A side,in a blue sleeve,it was a fantastic remix, one of the very best ever.

The 12" vinyl I have is definitely Nobody's Diary (Original 7" mix) on the A side and Situation (Re-recorded mix) on the B side. 1983 and says 'Limited No.' in the top right corner. Almost certain I bought it in the UK but can't say 100%. State Farm was the B side on the 7" I think. Here's hoping I have an ultra rare edition worth a few quid! ;)

These releases were at a time ( the 80s) when record companies were doing all sorts of exploitation to make cash.
State Farm was deffo the b side to ND,s...Mute Records probably thought ...Yazoo were coming to an end, lets stick the remix of situation on the b side of another limited edition 12" to encourage more folk to buy Nobodys Diarys......Situation was a big track on the American club scene,it was quietely received In this country as a b side, but the usa producers revamped and beefed it up back in 1981...it was an absolute belter in all the clubs.by 1984,Mute probably decided to squeeze a few more pounds put in England.
Yazoo were only around for 4 years,a breath of fresh air,4 singles 2albums and they had split up.
The b side selection, imo, surprised everybody in that a duo from Basildon London on a low budget ,could transform the american club scence....and Situation really did that, with many hip hop and rave tracks for the next two decades stealing bits of the record.....a bit like Afrika bambata nicking Kraftwerks Trans Europe Express theme for the sonic force release of Planet Rock.....what a tune!
