Just finished the Shardlake series by C J Sansom. Briiliant, un-put down able books. Considerably better than Hilary Mantels' Wolf Hall imho !
have you read Dominion by the same author ? its a dark read but good,

Just finished Two Brothers by Ben Elton. I've loved every book he has written but this was a bit different. It's about a Jewish family living in Berlin in the 20's and 30's. Loved it. I got the feeling the portrayal of what it was like being a Jew living there then was pretty spot on, considering his own Father lived through it.

Read this last year and it was good. The First Casualty by Elton is a good read too.
Have you read "An Officer and a Spy" by Robert Harris, Mackenzie? That is worth a punt too.

Also just finished Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith - a thriller set in 1950's Russia. It describes what living under Stalin's rule was like - pretty bloody bleak.

The House by the Dvina: A Russian Childhood

A book written by a old Scottish woman who saw the start of the Russian revolution first hand.

Has anyone read Stephen Kings 'Dark Tower' series? Looking for a really good series of fantasy type books. Done most of the GOT, Feist, Donaldson, Tolkein, Gemmel. Looking for something to really get into.

Heard mixed reviews on the wheel of time books and discworld, so was put off a bit on those.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson is fantastic.

Absolutely loved the dark tower. It's got everything.

About to start the second book in Sandersons stormlight archive. Really good. Will give Mistborn a try.
