I really enjoyed the book, and went to see the play on Christmas eve, the lad who played Christopher was brilliant.

At the Lowry? Wanted to but couldn't get to see it. Hopefully, next time it's on tour, I'll make sure I'm there. Heard lots of rave reviews.

I have Aspergers!!

Yes, it was excellent, hope you get to see it. I lent the book to a friend with a son who has severe autism and she really enjoyed it too. I thought it made a good attempt at trying to explain some of Christopher's issues. What did you think of the book?

Brilliant! Didn't put it down when I first got the book. Recognized so many traits in there. Should put books like this on National Curriculum to highlight Autistic issues that are being missed in children and adults alike. Play will be on in Birmingham at the end of May so will get to see it then.

Next on my list is Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey

Bernard Cornwell - The Empty Throne

it was dead good

It's on my kindle waiting to be read. I like Cornwell, he's one of my favourite authors.

I'm half way though "The Pagan Lord" (book 7) now.

I've heard BBC2 are making an 8 part Uhtred series. I've googled it but can't seem to find who's playing the lead. Should be good though.

Ooh that does sound promising. I'd prefer it if HBO was involved, but they've probably got their hands full. I hope the BBC throws some proper money at it and it doesn't end up like Robin Hood.
Travis Fimmel from Vikings would make an excellent Uhtred.

He's a fucking midget! Uhtred is supposed to be a big hulk of a man. Rutger Hauer is in it too, I would have thought he was too old.
It's not looking promising is it.

Just finished Two Brothers by Ben Elton. I've loved every book he has written but this was a bit different. It's about a Jewish family living in Berlin in the 20's and 30's. Loved it. I got the feeling the portrayal of what it was like being a Jew living there then was pretty spot on, considering his own Father lived through it.

Two posts at once on the "Last Book You Read/Reading" thread one after the other ! - another excellent novel from Elton which I read in the summer. Posters are going to start taking my opinions seriously and stop thinking I am just some northern knob.

I thought it was his Uncle who lived through it Mac and the family managed to get his Dad to London just before it all really started but the writing was clearly on the wall ?
Hi (long time no see)
The two brothers, his Dad and his Uncle, both experienced it. Even the adopted non Jewish relative has been based on an actual person.
His Dad is still alive, although in his 90's now ;-)

Been getting through the Ann Cleves Shetland series. On the Vera ones now. They are good reads.

I hadn't heard of this book before you mentioned it, but just heard the author talking about it on the radio. Might give it a try, as I sometimes work with people with dementia.
