What did people think of todays atmosphere

Spot on.

The club can give out as many free scarves as it likes, it can promote flag days and all the other tosh... but from day one, the idiot who decided to give half a stand to the away fans is the person to blame.

We should move the away fans out to the third tiers, bring all the City fans under one roof and I'm certain the atmosphere will improve.

The support is too split up and there is no focal point. If they can give a stand over to the prawn sandwich brigade, and a stand to the familiies, why not a stand for the "lads"?

In the past the close proximity of away fans helped create an atmosphere, rather than dilute it. Yesterday was embarrassing when a couple of hundred Blackburn fans were making a racket to virtually no response from the South Stand...

I've heard this 'the away fans make a difference to the atmospere' thing before. But anyone who thinks that, just go and have a look at any Besiktas or Red Star Belgrade fans videos on YouTube and tell me that the away fans are important... !

What's important is large dedicated vocal area who sing songs for prolonged periods of time (not one or two verses and give up before it even reaches the block next to you) and get te whole stadium bouncing. You guys in the vocal areas have more responsibility for atmosphere than you are able to cope with (that is apparent, either that or you can't be arsed), one because you aren't dedicated enough at making it good, and two because there aren't enough of you!

There are plenty of us in all the other blocks around the ground who get our blocks going when you guys kick-off with great volume and great length of songs, that's been seen in the odd derby game and the Hamburg game and our two wins against Chelsea at the CoMS. But a handful of excellent atmospheres in 7 years is t good enough! And the only thing that can change it is if our vocal areas are bigger, better and more dedicated durig the matches and with preparation in weeks leading up to games!

Why don't we just have a dedicated booooooooooooing section?

You've obviously never been in the Colin Bell Level 2 stand?

Went in there for the Tiramisu game and it was like being transported back in time to 1973 and the Main Stand!

Every comment was negative. Every fucker wanted the world to hear his opinion about how bad Villa was/How Richards is "not a footballer" (well look at his passport if you doubt him!)/how Vieira is a stump/that Mancini is clueless...

Believe me, going back in the North Stand after that was a fucking pleasure!

I'm a northstander now, formally of the SS. I have sat in other areas though, i also have the horror stories! I have been in CB l3 and been sat next to a woman reading a book during the game! When my daughter (12) occasionally belted out "come on city" or "blue moon" she tutted yes tutted! I also have been in cb l1 next to a group who all had rucksacks full of flasks, sarnies and jaffa cakes!

You only have to read the threads on here to see why the atmospheres not very good, to many are self consious/ offended by songs. seen time and time again on here ' I don't sing x song because it makes us look smug/ is horrible/ is offensive/is cringy (delete as approiate). Gone are the days when more corny and cringy the song more people had a laugh and joined in, maybe if a few got there sense of humour back and stop giving a shit what other fans say about us we'll create a good atmosphere.

I sat in the singing section today, usually a south stander but went on a day trip, it's seems just like the south stand, full of people who wanna be in the atmosphere but not prepared to join in, you get more bars than us though you lucky twats

Totally agree with Soulboy and you.

The atmosphere will never be great without one singing area.

Moving the away fans to the other side of the South Stand would be a cheap and easy solution.

I think part of the problem is the actual design of the stadium. Many of the new stadiums that make a lot of noise have very deep single tiered stands where the chants can travel. At City we have very narrow tiers with probably only about 40 rows in tier 1 and tier 2 which means that chants don't carry on from say south stand tier 1 to south stand tier 2. It would be fantastic if we had a "kop" like stand which i think would really improve the atmosphere. Obviously i can't see this ever happening. If the stadium was to be remodelled i imagine they would just add a third tier to the north and south stands which would do nothing to improve the atmosphere in my opinion.
