What did people think of todays atmosphere

I don't go as often as i'd like or used to but i've never found the atmosphere at Coms to be anything but fairly poor tbh.
It can't just be about a newish stadium, all seating etc etc, i went to a Cardiff City game a few weeks back and the atmosphere at their new stadium was rocking all game, they didn't need a singing section or whatever people want to call it.

The atsmosphere was like it is in about three-quarters if all our games... SHITE!

The two singing areas don't sing enough, and a big point, not for long enough per song! They might start off a song but don't sing and sing and sing it, so it dies before it even leaves the vocal area. So the stadium is quiet again before most songs ever catch on anywhere in the ground. I sit in the East Stand and will join in with the songs I hear from the vocal areas but I can be singing with 10 others near me and we'll be on our own as the vocal areas will have just stopped singing! How are songs ever gonna catch on around the ground if that's the case?

And out of 44000-47000 in attendance regularly, areas that total about 3000 vocal fans when added together, just isn't enough to get a proper atmosphere going! The areas are too small, even if they were next to each other, but they're not even that, they're two areas that are spilt up who don't even like each other!

I've read threads on here that say; "the South Stand was bouncing today" and I've thought 'WHAT?!' and when I was in my seat not noticed you at all or thought you were outsung by even average away fans!

Hopefully when the stadium is redeveloped something is done to incresase the vocal areas from the five and a half blocks either side of the away fans on the bottom tier, like all it is now!

Spot on.

The club can give out as many free scarves as it likes, it can promote flag days and all the other tosh... but from day one, the idiot who decided to give half a stand to the away fans is the person to blame.

We should move the away fans out to the third tiers, bring all the City fans under one roof and I'm certain the atmosphere will improve.

The support is too split up and there is no focal point. If they can give a stand over to the prawn sandwich brigade, and a stand to the familiies, why not a stand for the "lads"?

In a nutshell, 'corporates' and families will never make an atmosphere. Most of the former aren't really there to support the team, just to pose and stuff themselves with free food.

At Maine Road the nearest equivalent was the Main Stand, which was usually very quiet, but a 'singing section' by today's standards.

The only way I see it changing is if we have a much larger stadium with much cheaper tickets for 'the lads'. I can't see that happening, certainly not the cheap tickets.

While I agree that having a proper 'end' or even Kippax style side would be great for the atmosphere Hamburg proved that it isn't the be-all and end-all.

In the past the close proximity of away fans helped create an atmosphere, rather than dilute it. Yesterday was embarrassing when a couple of hundred Blackburn fans were making a racket to virtually no response from the South Stand...

Even more reason to shove them up in the God's... they can't embarrass us as easily!

Is this the north/family stand we are talking about? I agree completely dont understand why these mums dads and kids dont start off a song every now again! Families eh!

The equivalent of the old Main Stand is the Colin Bell imo. It's like a friggin morgue in there and you get dirty looks from some for getting behind the side. Worst experience I've had at COMS. North Stand was way better but now of course its the family stand so you can't expect as much. The bits that was the North Stand and is now east Stand corner is still pretty good imo. No south Stand but nowhere near as bad as some people paint on the whole. There are some twats in there that just sit like frickin church mice but thats up to them I suppose. Can't understand my near neighbours in front who don't even clap/ applaud/ stand up ..... even when we score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf ???????? Why bother?????

The Colin Bell Stand is the main stand.
