What did Robbie do wrong exactly?

He was shite and has been shite on too many occassions - as was his best mate, Elano, before him. And Elano was shit under Sven. It's obviously a mentality thing with that type of player and has nowt to do with the manager. These type of players are creative types and are not work-horses. It's no point in having a go at Robbie - or Hughes - it's just the way it is.

If you don't want shirkers - don't buy those type of players! They're the final piece in the jigsaw and NOT what we need at the moment. IMHO of course.

That's hit the nail on the head.

It seems to me that we have too much icing and too little cake.

The luxury players are great but if you don't have the less glamorous players to provide that spadework, then they cannot strut their stuff.

Robinho would be a great player in a great side but unless he is in that great side, he'll never be a great player.

Oh deary, deary me...words nearly fail me but.

We have a great squad of players sadly we can't get them playing at their best and consistent enough and I know who I blame.

Im more arsed about performance on the pitch than off the field antics....and he was shit and didn't help Sylvinho out in the slightest.
Robinho has grown up in a brazilian team where he DOESN'T need to 'track-back' cause the LB spends more time forward.
Robinho is weak, and has no strenth, he has always been at a team where he is not had to track bck and help, he cannot tackle and i would expect him to. Carlos Tevez runs around all game (he is great BTW) so put him o the Left if Sylvinho is struggling Robbie in the middle and Tevez who is hardworking and tough can track back. and thats what should of happened yesterday

He is like most of the other players under Hughes.

They arrive showing great promise and skill and end up looking average.

Good question.

Sadly he just failed to do the job for which he is paid. Again.

Peripheral, dis-engaged, totally lacking in influence or impact and not able to compensate for these inadequacies through a higher than normal work rate.

Plonkersyouare.com - you are talking about a truly great player, probably the most talented player to wear a City shirt and I used to watch Marsh, Johnstone, Hannah, Bell and Kinky.
A player like this should have a team built around him. Hughes just wants to turn class players into work horses.
It`s very sad to watch all this money being wasted by a dullard.

My view on Robinhos performance against Spurs?

First half I personally thought he was one of the shinning lights of a poor poor performance. His passing was crisp, precise and he was accountable for the only attempt on target that we mustered. He didn't drop back and help Sylvinho against Lennon, but did we ever expect him too, does Petrov ever assist the left back? And it was even suggested in the Times last week that Bellamy only sparkles going forward with a lack of desire to work back (not my opinion it must be stated) so it can't be a problem that simply attributed to Robinho.

Second half? Well by the time he was pulled off I think you can say that any single player made a tellling contribution up that point. And as for walking straight off down the tunnel, I can't say I blame him in that temperature and rain. Think i would be doing exactly the same.

Robinho is a special player who, on his day single handlely destroy sides, but it does seem that whenever City don't play well then the buck stops at his performance, I'm proud that we can say he is a City player, but i do feel that a lot of the stick he gets is based purely on the negative attitudes towards him from the national press. Andy Gray views on his on wednesday night were, in my opinion very over the top. The press even questioned his performance against Chelsea when he worked his sock off.

Sorry, rant over

Elano shit under Sven...are you a complete idiot?

They don't need to be workhorses to be great players, but the rest of the team has to be working well together for them to flourish, and too often like on wednesday City fall apart and these talents get the flack for the team's failings.

i may be wrong but i thought robbie used to play "in the hole" when he was at madrid, and this was his prefered position
im no football tactical genius but that role seems ideally suited for a player like robhino ie less defensive duties and more freedom to move around the box

And behind Fabiano for Brazil (in the hole) so to speak, i feel he would be alot more affective behind the strikers.
