What does it take to be considered a real City fan?

To be considered a real City fan you aren't only interested in us because of a certain player or the chance of latching on to us because we're going to win trophies. At any time when a certain player leaves or we stop winning trophies these sort of people will fuck off, so they aren't real fans.

My Grandad (Dad's Dad) used to go to Hyde Road to watch City. My Mum's side of the family were from Moss Side and grew up going to City. I started going to Maine Road when I was 6. It never bothered me when we were shit and I don't particularly like going to City more now than I did when we were shit. It's better on the eye and less stressful but it's more expensive plus the atmosphere's shit and it's over Policed.

I consider myself a proper City fan.

Although I hate our red and black striped kits (red should never be seen at City!) and I don't really like "Blue Moon" that much (it's a dull chant and is overindulged in by the club). So I have very different views in that respect to other "real City fans" because to many the r+b striped kits are the best thing since sliced bread and "Blue Moon" is the be all and end all of chants.

Can't be arsed reading the whole thread, but I couldn't consider someone a 'real' City fan if they've ever supported someone else (not including someone also supporting their small local team such as Failsworth Tigers or whatever).

If you don't go to games, I don't consider you a proper supporter.....simple really.

No excuse that you live in oz or USA, you can always make the odd game.

Having been born in Manc is harsh IMHO - neither I nor my son were: but we were both born Blues.

I'd settle for Lincoln away in '96; but Gillingham at Wembley in '99 the fairer test.

ps It's a barm...

Do friendlies in the USA count? Poor student here who can barely afford rent let alone a flight ticket to the UK! :)
