What does it take to be considered a real City fan?

30 years going. 1000 games. Nearly every programme back to 1945.

Dad has literally never had a conversation with me about anything in his life other than city. Never forget the line post divorce - oh well you can go to city now without her mithering.

Taking him today - he has been going 60 years.

All my mates (3 of them) are huge fans.

Once sold my mums tv to go to spurs.

Literally can't go on the main forum when we loose.

My kids make Pam off here look impartial.

I am a real city fan!!

That post divorce quote is world class.

Fantastic ...wished l'd married a bird just to hear my dad say summat like that ... well if l ever knew who he was !

My two lads , who l can vouch for have chinned a fair few gobby rags who must of somehow deserved it ...

it's easy to judge.

is it a religious experience?

if you get annoyed when someone is talking when the lads come out.

if you turn up the tv when pellars is on.

do you have black thoughts if anyone other than a blue calls us.

do you shed a small tear every time you hear that goal

do you cry at the city montage before the game.

was your best sex connected with them.

do you have a problem with people who say they are city fans but never go.

Any of the above? Then you my child are a chosen one.

Wee Davey is a blue?!!

Everything in my wardrobe has the City crest on it. Wearing full kit right now.
Love the username

Demanding my daughter be a blue from the minute she was born made me realise I'm a 'proper' blue.

On another note, something I discussed with PaulPowersTash before the game out in Barca - what the fuck is it we actually support?

Since we both started supporting City not one single thing is still the same or remains-

The ground has moved
No one who was part of the club then is around anymore
The crest has changed

Supporting a football club is such a bizarre thing. It has no logic to it at all.

What stops us 'leaving'?

The thing with City fans is that we come in all shapes and sizes, you don't have to have been at York away or have a family who've never had a rag in it. I was born on Thornton Road, couldn't get much closer to the Kippax/Platt Lane, Dad was a blue (sadly passed away in 71) and can honestly never remember a time when the thought of not being a City fan entered my head, I just was. Work and finance (or lack of it) stopped me going through most of the 80's and 90's but now I have the time and resources to travel to most games. What I enjoy most about being a City fan is that when we get together, whether it's Barcelona, Wembley or Hull, there is a great camaraderie between the fans and as someone who normally travels alone you're rarely without someone to chat and have a beer with. So I would say, one of the signs of being a 'real' City fan is that you can't help yourself from acknowledging a fellow Blue. It might only be a nod or "alright mate" but you recognise a shared interest and bond.

Good point mate

Some really arrogant blinkered posts in this thread ...

If we had to rely on purely Mancunian support on matchdays we'd probably get about twenty-odd thousand ...

Manchester City F.C. isn't exclusively the property of people who come from Manchester its a broad church ...

lf you're a Blue you just know it in your heart and when you come into contact with other Blues they will know it too ...
