You can say Hughes is shit, but it in my view that does not deal with the issue. If Hughes goes then surely most of the first team should go also?

Lack of tempo
fragmented team, no cohesion,
cant play against big players
cant head the ball
Never get the second ball
laziness

It's the classic underachievement scenario.

You have years of bobbling along, getting nowhere. Just as things start to gel between a squad you throw in a transfer window and disrupt the whole thing. Then you sack a manager. You repeat this ad nauseum.

Buying in "names" doesn't do the job. You need to develop a squad. For that to happen you need (a) luck and (b) patience. Look at the players who play like they care and you'll notice some shared features - like, they've been around the club for a while. Look at the players who play like they wish they were driving their [insert name of obscenely-priced car here] and you'll notice some shared features - like, they've been here 5 minutes, they are "stars" and they were touted as being the next saviour.

To develop a squad you need a decent manager with a modest transfer budget, insulated from the financial pressures of a football club.

I'm not a Hughes out person but this is some of our problems.

- Shit at set-pieces!
- Not agressive enough!
- Poor substitutions!


Impovements needed!:

- Chemistry in defence! Quality LB/RB!
- We need height!
- Class Striker! (Bellamy is the foundation but not the future /salute Bells)
- Rid ourselves of dead weight!
- Bring in 1 World Class and rest high-high-quality! 1 Striker rest defence!!!!

we're run by a manager who specialises in helping lowly teams play above themselves. he has no track record of winning anything (as a manager).

our first team coach is a former (average) goalkeeper.

also, hughes relentlessly persued, and eventually succeeded in signing, a player with an injury record only slightly less embarrassing than michael owen's. £14m for a striker, who will play in around half of your games and score you about one in three when he does, is poor business.

The hate City brigade on here have been waiting for a long time for us to lose a game at home & it is best dismissing what they say as pretty much rubbish,here's a good example.
Why didn't we rest players for arsenal ?? when we had a big game midweek.?
Why didn't we play a full strength team against Fulham?? even though we have an even bigger game midweek.?
You'll see contradictions & "stats"by them pretty regular.
The answer to your question is we do not have a big enough quality squad to compete on 2 fronts.
That is NOT Hughes's fault,we have a lot of players with injurys & we haven't got back up players that are good enough to come in.
The loss of Johnson & Petrov has been a major reason for our problems away from home but come pre -season our squad will change dramatically for the better.
Wenger has admitted in the press to making mistakes well Mark Hughes has also made mistakes but he will learn from them.

It was a shit performance & the 2nd half was shite,this will not happen next season of that you can be sure.
