The world needs less people not more, as for countries need more immigration you mean big business needs more immigration making a sweeping statement like that when you know most normal people want controlled immigration is absurd.

Honestly it's laughable how the supposed kinder side of politics treat humans as just a resource to do the menial jobs they wont do, but it doesn't surprise me.

If they resorted to crossing by Dinghy rather than applying through a processing centre then we would be in our rights to turn them back (this is the assumption that the Australians use) .

They are not ''illegal'' until they have had their application heard and denied. Over 80% are found to be genuine asylum seekers (Under the criteria listed in the UN Refugee Convention of 1951) ... this increases to close to 85% on appeal.

So the actual numbers which are illegal is very small and they should be deported as soon as a decision is reached. However because the Tories slashed the number of case workers there is now a huge backlog and it is taking up to 2 years for an initial decision , this is why they are having to be housed in hotel accommodation at the tax payers expense. There is also a shortage of Return officers.

The UK has the second highest backlog of asylum applications (behind Germany) in Europe despite the UK receiving one of the lowest number of applications in Europe (19th out of 27)



An asylum applicant receives a daily allowance of £1.27 a day . From this they are expected to buy clothes and toiletries, its hardly a fortune compared to the £87.1 billion committed by the Tories to defence by 2030

The BBC report a cost of at least £370 million so far.
The NAO says government has already paid £220million, with another £120m due when the first deportees arrive plus, £50m a year between now and 2027. https://www.nao.org.uk/press-releas...ffice has paid,people are relocated to Rwanda.
Those are conservative estimates and if you can be arsed to read the link above they will continue to pay millions as well for a 5 year 'integration and processing' system.
If the cost of immigration is your main concern, which i very much doubt, then keeping them here would be a lot cheaper.

How do you know they are unskilled? Nobody is interviewing them they are just arriving and being stuck in hotels. By the law of averages some will be qualified and trained.

We clear the backlog it will cost a mere £100,000,000,000 on the figures quoted. Do you think a competent Govt wouldn't find a better use for that sum of money?

and there around 50k of them which is how I came to £100bn cost
