Ha ha Jesus - that's it you focus on the positive things. I'm stumped how a thought like that pops into people's heads. Look at the talent already here + trying to get in and look forward to the start of the season under a proven quality manager.

The OP and many other posters on this thread clearly don't understand the club's new 'Holistic' model.

If 'The Engineer' fails then as the current occupant of the "Crash Test Dummy (CTD)" seat, he will be catapulted out of his position leaving the Board to chose a new CTD aka Manager, leaving Tixiki and Sorriano safe in their positions. Repeat ad nauseum till Khaldoon Al Mubarak & Sheikh Mansour realises that the 'Holistic' model foisted on them by the sweet talking Soriano is indeed a con.

Sadly it is virtually guaranteed to fail as there is no club in the Premiership (or indeed the German or Dutch leagues) where the model of the Manager being below the DOF in the pecking order has worked. Of course I may be mistaken and Pellegrini may indeed be at the same level as Txiki in which case it does stand a chance. The setup doesn't look like that at the moment though.

Except Munich, Dortmund, Ajax. Other than that though your spot on. TheEnglish way of giving one man too much power and responsibility has worked wonders in us developing technically the best young players in the world. If only the Germans could see how having DoF at their biggest clubs is killing their chances.

Read Mancini's comments and Soriano's definition of a modern manager. As this moment in time it very much looks like the manager is very much playing second fiddle.

Time will tell as to whether he actually is or not.
I don't know and neither do you and that's for sure.
If he is I think we're fecked.

for me, anything less than second place in the prem league, a cup final and progress beyond the group stages would be a failure (or at least stagnation ).....he has the core of a great team, the players we are bringing in are his additions and therefore it will be him (and the spannish duo) who will bare the brunt of the criticism if we dont hit the targets.....his only defense will be that he is new to the league.....anything other than the above/exceptance of less is hypocrisy from the people running the club

Obviously the aim would be the Premier League title, however, anywhere in the top 3 is not bad given the situation of the top 3 all changing managers. I'd personally put Mourinho's Chelsea as the favourites for the title race.

I would expect a better showing in the Champions league thats for sure, getting out the group stages should clearly be the target considering the last two seasons in the CL.
