What is annoying is we lost to a team we are better than....

Very true that Mancini constantly has to correct his selection mistakes for the expense of the team/match. Some them seems good tactical changes but really only he does what he should do right from start sometimes.

At least the doesnt always say "I didnt prepare well for the match."

i couldnt believe how naive bobby was, when you play united, you play against width, the way zaba and clichy bombed forward was suicidal, we got exposed.

nasri and silva come in field with the ball, which means when we loose it our flanks again are horribly exposed and we get doubled up on.

Spot on regarding our width, everybody knows how they play and we were very naive with the fullbacks pushing on so far. Our midfield is very narrow by nature and we are easily exposed out wide.
Its the one area I believe we need to improve, natural width will create more space inside which will then suit the likes of Silva,Nasri.

That's what annoys me because as we saw when Tevez came on we absolutely dominated them to the point they were slicing clearances just to get them away.

Sometimes in football you play a better team and you have to hold your hands up but yesterday that simply was not the case, they looked average and had the worst defence I have seen in a united team for years.

The danger this year is they have a get out of jail free card in RVP so it's papering over the cracks for them.

Mancini has to take responsibility for the defeat I was gobsmacked when I saw Balotelli on the team sheet as it gave them the initiative and effectively a two goal lead. Once he had figured out his error he changed it and they were hanging on for dear life but in true rag style they got lucky with a deflected freekick.

Poor team selection cost us and this is the first time I've ever questioned Mancini as a manager but his decision yesterday was baffling and unacceptable.

Completely agree with the op, however after watching Snatch of the day! What the hell was Nasri up to pulling out of the wall, dear O dear.

Balotelli has great skill - no doubt about that. And he is one cool dude with penalties!
But because of this bizarre father/son relationship that Mancini seems to have with him he is becoming a liability when he keeps Tevez out of the team.

I agree with Kiam for once. Everyone knew they would play on the break and soak up pressure which in fairness I thought they did pretty well. He should have set up the team to combat this as it was clear as day to everyone. Blame Nasri, blame Hart, blame Balo or Yaya if you must.

For me the buck stops with Mancini, he was naive in the first half and that cost us.. A chance missed for me, we could have battered them, instead we are sat here licking our wounds with no points. Does Mancini know our best team?

What do you want us to do? Not attack them.

Stupid comments

When it is obvious what your opponents will do you set up accordingly. Nobody is saying don't attack them. What you don't do is bomb forward with your full backs and leave yourself exposed to their only form of attack. Naive from Bobby and a chance missed.

Theres no doubt we lost to an inferior team, but it's been coming in the league and I half expected it.

Whilst I am frequently exasperated by mancini's tactical errors, I actually thought the selection of mario and Sergio was a decent decision yesterday. I thought for the first 20 mins we were hitting their feet early and it looked like one of them could spin off the centre halves' shoulders at any time. I felt the way Tevez holds the ball up and runs at people could hamper our one touch attacking, and that's what's beaten man united these last few times. I'd even go as far as saying that I'd have left mario on and withdrawn nasri when Tevez came on. And there lies my only criticism of Mancini from this game, and it's one I've had for the majority of 18 months: when is he going to get wise to the waste of space that is samir nasri? He's the one of the incompleted one two, a poked pass down a blind alley, a prod and no return. He's the softest half of the 50-50, the good move halted through caution. He's the Emporer's new clothes at city, although I think he's been found out by most now.

Overall I'm not going to hammer Mancini for yesterday, but noone can doubt that he's under pressure now. A couple of bad results over Christmas and he's in big big trouble.

I still don't think we will sack him in the middle of this season, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Good post Dave I actually agree with everything you have said(1st time for everything)

Agree with the OP the rags are good at what they do but Bobby has to shape up big time.
