What is Britains biggest waste of money ?

Not Britain but analysing the black box from mh17 it will be a 2 year investigation to conclude flying along minding own business hit by missile

The amount each year that the government lets off multinational corporations in tax and the knock on effect that has on other businesses trying to compete.

The amount Britain has spent on 'defence' over the last few years

Nhs could be run so much better, so much money wasted, on the news yesterday they paid 1800 quid to an agency for 1 nurse to work a 12 hour shift. They could employ a nurse for a month for the same money but claim its cheaper to use agencies.

Agenda threads and de Niro's carpet shop are a stain on this country and should be nuked
Oy, fuck off......

I'm moving house soon(ish), and I'll be needing new carpets in the new gaff, so leave off the carpet shop!

Now nukes, there's a monumental waste of money.............oh, and traffic lights.

Traffic lights.
They must cost millions to run and maintain. Not only placed everywhere including the unnecessary, then run 24/7 in remote areas, including industrial parks that close for the week end. Why they can't be on a timer or sensor is beyond me. You sit there like a dick with no other cars in sight, petrol and fumes chugging away.

Crazy.
I thought it was just me that got pissed off with the bloody things.

Go to my ageing parents every Sunday morning at 8.00 am an pass through 5 sets of light that change for no reason, I have even been tempted to go through a couple on red to save time as there is no traffic at all on the road.

We are constantly told to go green yet we sit at the stupid things for minutes on end consuming money and polluting the atmosphere.

Swindon old & new town binned the majority of their traffic lights back in the 90's and replaced with mini roundabouts. For the most part, they worked better than the lights at keeping the flow of traffic going

What a stupid way to look at it! HS2 will be brilliant for the UK.

HS2 will not be 'brilliant'. In 15yrs or whenever it gets built(if ever) people who are important enought to need 20mins shaved off the B'ham to London journey time will not be getting trains.

They will be working from offices using Skype, Facetime etc

This is clearly something your not very well educated on. The UK rail infrastructure is at, or nearly at full capacity. Train journeys made over the next decade are going up, the population is going up, and the building of HS2, Crossrail, Crossrail2 will all help to ease these problems. Also it will free up vital track space for freight, and reduce lorries on the road.

Could they not use the money to improve the current system, improve local public transport services and make rail use cheaper form the general public?

That way we could get more people using public transport which wouldn free up the roads for the lorries?
