What is the point of the Lib Dems?

The Church of the Militant Elvis Party thanks you for your support

We usually poll just above the Lib Dem’s

Thank you very much

You cannot however underestimate the damage Clegg did in siding with the Tories though. Reneging on the student fees thing put a whole generation STILL IN THEIR LATE TEENS at the time against them probably for life then siding with welfare and health reforms pissed off other age demographics. Most of those who are prominent and left in the LD's were in that coalition and so are stained by it. They need a new fresh faced generation to come through and accept that the old guard were wrong to maybe get off on a better foot with prospective voters?

Agreed. As the saying went after that fiasco, I remember the famous rallying cry:

Be a man in a million!

Vote Lib Dem at the nezt election!

Unless Labour offer a 2nd referendum in the event of a GE, they’ll get my vote.

Exactly what I came to the thread to say. They deserve to be obsolete after that coalition govt nonsense and their total nom contribution to it.

a bit unfair Unc - after all they did do the DUP job of shoring up a Tory Govt that couldn't win a working majority AND they were happy to vote along with the Tories no matter what it meant for their pre-election promises - and all for £££zero ( unlike the DUP ) - so really they contributed quite a lot for not a lot lol

Total non contribution? I haven’t fact checked all of this due to sheer laziness on my part but I certainly remember a few of them. But they did upset a few students. Shame some bluemooners are insistent on rewriting history and lack balance.

The Lib Dem’s were harshly treated imho. They killed themselves but did some good things to which they receive no credit.

Every time anyone looks at their tax code they should at least give a little bit of credit where it’s due. Personally as a coalition I thought they reined in the Tories pretty well.

Never voted for anyone else but them.

I get why they lost a lot of votes for the tuition fees. Having said that, that masked a lot of good that they wouldnt have been able to do had they not gone into coalition.
