To set the stage for discussion, I'd observe that robotics and artificial intelligence are advancing rapidly. More and more jobs currently filled by humans are being displaced.
For example, in the near future, we may well have full autonomous, automated cars, trucks and ships. The need for human drivers, truckers, pilots and crewmen will be greatly diminished if not entirely eliminated.
And the same sort of job displacement among both blue and white collar workers is accelerating.
Fast forward 50 years.
What role then, if any, does capitalism play?
