The captain should be leading by example and show the utmost respect for the club, his colleagues and the fans.

Fully agree mate. I don't agree with his transfer request but it does the club no good to boo him or be ambivilent. Everton will be a tough game whatever and we all need to pull together and in the same direction.

I understand where you are coming from and there are many like you who will just not be able to accept that. I fear it will be an uneasy atmosphere against Everton, but I really think we are more likely to lose out if we give him a bucketful of shit.

If he does play for us again I won't cheer his name when the teams are read out at the biginning; I will celebrate a goal from him, but won't cheer when his name is announced over the tannoy; I won't applaud him off the pitch or sing his name again!

If he wasn't picked and decided to go back to Argentina out of petulance,what possible action could the club take? I don't just mean docking his wages.If he wanted to do a VanHooydonk,who do we sue or claim money off? I know insurance policies are in place to cover injuries/illness etc. Do we pay £25mil for a product to last for 5 years and watch it pack-in after 2 years and are helpless? If he's telling the truth about being pissed off with football then making him train with the kids will have no effect as he'll simply refuse to do it and not turn in for work.That's always been the threat to a player.To ruin his career by not picking him till he falls into line.We could have done this with Robinho and it would have destroyed his career.But what do you do with someone who doesn't even want one?
