What make of dog for a beginner?

Greyhounds a good bet, doent shed, sleeps 22 hours a day, dont like long walks, really gentle and usually good with kids

There's something more honest about big dog shits - at least you can see them before you step in it. Little jack russel type shits are much worse.

There's an unfair stigma surrounding them but I truly believe pit bulls are gentle animals and would make a great beginners pet.

Approaching retirement. Never had a dog. Never really liked dogs. Wife is the same. Recently warmed to the idea. I like labs and setters, mrs. HOTM likes a bolognese (something like that)
Requirements:
-Doen't shed hair
- Doesn't yap
- hardly shits

Any suggestions welcome.

We have 2 Labrador crosses and a Rottweiler/bull mastif cross. All great dogs .. can’t do much about the food going through them tho

I'd go for a rescue dog, preferably cross-bred and about 6 months old. I had one years ago, you'll find it very rewarding.
