John Gidman, great to watch although way past his best
I remember us losing 5-0 at Selhurst Park against Charlton. Gidman had a nightmare (as did most of the team), and came across to acknowledge the fans at the end of the game.
He stood there, put his hand over his heart, looked directly at us and mouthed 'sorry' - He was the only player to come came close to the fans and the only one who appeared to be genuinely sorry...
A guy standing just in front of us shouted, "Sorry?... You red bastard it was all your fault, just fuck off", followed by a barrage of abuse from the majority of the rest of us.
Gidman looked absolutely destroyed. I don't think he ever recovered from that.
