What time is it?

It's not really a question of whether he's good enough for us, it's the fact that our squad is painfully lacking in pace at the moment, which he doesn't possess.

Ashley Young would be a sensible signing but unless he hears of our interest and throws his toys out of the pram, I can't see us getting him.

Get Vass back Ntini?

Anyone is better than Jo ;)

Are you telling me or City this?

Because, as it stands, irrespective of peoples' opinions on Henderson's talents, our club have been interested in him for months.

Yes, he's a red. Yes, he has failed to convince when I have seen him.

Yes, Bruce would prefer a pat on the head from Sir Alex. Facts remain, we are on the clock.

So what people are saying, he is good enough for United, but not for us?

Strange

I think the majority of us are just of an opinion that he is not what we need right now mate, that's all.

But people are confusing me for someone who dicatates transfer policy or identifies potential players.

I am not the person to take to task if this has anything in it.

My Henderson post was merely a lot of groundwork had previously been done by us, he is English and scouts like his versality.

The flip side of him as a potential incoming, personally, I think he's overrated, and Sunderland currently have £20-odd million burning a hole in their pocket.

I would love to see Young come in, but Villa have been pretty adamant, and where does it leave Jonno when he returns to fitness.

Villa might lose their nerve, perhaps, if Liverpool start offering silly money.

I still stick with N'Zogbia and Elia being our most realistic targets as both are unsettled at their present clubs therefore should only be an issue of cash.

Would be delighted with N'Zogbia but given the fact he has been available for a long time, very reasonably priced and we have never shown any interest whatsoever I would be very surprised if we made a move for him!

1024: Daily Mirror journalist Darren Lewis is reporting that Liverpool have accepted a bid for Fernando Torres.

Due to the bashings you take on here i fully understand how you may have felt we were having a pop at you and your info but i can only assure you that i wasn't doing so.

You have been clear for months that Henderson is a target mate, i just don't think he is worth the money and more importantly, he isn't what we need in the squad right now.

For me mate, the deficiencies in the squad have been there to see all season and results and league standing as masked them a little. We need pace and flair and i would be lieing if i said i was a little worried that Bobby seems hell bent on filling the team with workhorses when we should be going for the iceing on the cake so to speak.

De Jong, Barry, Yaya, Milner, Paddy is more than enough power in the middle and Silva needs a back up and we really do need pace out wide or i fear we will waste the talent that is Dzeko.

Nothing stopping them accepting multiple offers, although I think he would blow us out anyway. I am sure its been reported we are not interested anyway

If we wanr class then we should be looking at Aguero - he can play up front and also plays out wide and scoring record of 1 in 2 ish

It annoys me this must have pace flair etc, players like Henderson and maybe Jarvis are Mancini type players. Their work ethic amongst the team is paramount, low maintenance players who will not throw the dummies out of the pram if not in the team, think Park at the rags.

As for pace, we are more about moving the ball quickly to feet and have a general movement round the last third, no one complained after the Fulham and West Ham games. Technical players for me all along above pace

Ive been championing Nzogbia for months,he is exactly what the squad is missing, fast, powerful, direct, tricky and scores a few.

I'd also be after Dempsey.

Even though a centre half would also be ideal, those two would see us right for that 3rd place push.

Game at 0-0 or even worse, we are behind and 10, 20, 30 passes across the middle of the midfield within a 20 yard area may be technically great but trust me mate, its also very easy to defend against.

You have to have the option of going in behind the defence now and again as having to go straight through the middle is proving increasingly difficult.

Did it a few times yesterday and coincidently, we scored form a move that had pace and got behind them.

We need pace as we don't seem to have any Plan B when our gameplan isnt working or when teams park the bus as evident against villa and everton. Had AJ been subbed on earlier against villa or had even started I doubt we'd have lost that game.

It's nice to have various options within the squad.

Agreed, though i would hardly call Yaya, Balotelli, Tevez and Richards slow

Lots of rumours surrounding possible Man City bids for wingers (Hulk, Matt Jarvis and Santi Cazorla to name but three) today following Adam Johnson's injury, but I'm told the chances of Roberto Mancini making a late splash in the transfer market are "hugely slim
".
