how can nufc turn down 30 mill from liverpool.

Its crazy money, if they had any sense they would snap their hands off!

I agree, they're mad not to accept although maybe holding out for a couple of mil more, but how much is he worth to them.
Also, who do they replace him with, I reckon Newcastle are safe from the drop, but the rest of the season would be very difficult for them, with Carroll being their main source of goals.

Could SWP possibly be used as a makeweight in the Young deal ?

I can't see Villa selling this late in the day unless they've got a replacement in.

Problem is that Albrighton is much better/more effective than SWP...so I reckon there's no chance of that happening...

1147:BBC Radio 5 live's Mike Sewell reports: Shaun Wright-Phillips is expected to stay at Manchester City unless a permanent deal can be done. The injury to Adam Johnson wouldn't stop SWP from being sold. City are understood to only be interested in doing a deal which ends in a permanent transfer. West Ham, Fulham and Bolton have all enquired about loans until the end of the season. On the subject of Johnson's injury, I'm told City could bring in extra cover but no big name expected.

TH Any news on Ashley Young to City?

No.

Villa supposedly not interested in selling him.

We are on the outside looking in today I fear.

The ball has been well and truly dropped then for me mate and i hope that Bobby's faith in his system holds out for all our sakes.

I'm surprised and disappointed that a manager with such experience, and under so much pressure, fails to adequately cover all the bases.

I put last January down to the fact that he had just arrived, but if this window results in our squad actually being lighter than it was at the start of the window... then he really hasn't done himself any favours whatsoever...

I agree 100%.

Its a results business and the results needed between now and the end of may will be crucial.

I made a thread on here a few weeks ago regarding our squad being nowhere near as strong as what we perceived it to be at the start of the season. On the whole I was told I was talking nonsense (no change there then) but I stand by what I said and the performance yesterday by the likes of Milner, Vieira and Jo just reaffirms my stance!

Whilst I agree we still have plenty of options open to us with Y.Toure, Barry, De Jong, Viera, Balotelli, SWP, Silva, Milner, Zab/Richards could fill in, Assulin may be thrown in and Gudetti may even get a chance up front from the bench.
