Back on topic, I watched some Spike Milligan programmes the other day and they were shockingly unfunny, and I loved Spike Milligan as a kid.

I disagree.

When I watched it 40 years ago as a child it left me cold.

Now I see the comedy genius of the programme is in its slapstick predictability and the facial expressions.

That's why I like Sykes.

Each episode is the same. some daft antics from Eric and Hattie and then the policeman, Derek Guyler, comes round to offer inane advice.
