Without a doubt Dickov. Had he not scored, half the team were going in a fire sale just to keep our heads above water. We'd of been down there for years otherwise. Unthinkable really when you think about it.

Totally accepting the importance of Dickov's goal, but something I've always wondered: why was the Financial difference between div 3 and div 2 so big back then? I can imagine that it is now, but then? TV money wasn't big for either, so why did it make such a difference?

Losing the league to United in that fashion would've left a deep and permanent scar on the club that would've never healed so it's Aguero without question for me. No melodrama here it would've been genuinely horrific. We were without doubt the best team in the league that season so imagine trying to swallow a defeat like that to them in that manner. From 80 minutes on all I could think of was the crowing and pisstaking that would follow and it was a deeply, deeply unpleasant prospect. Look at the fallout from Gerrard's slip and times that by two at least, I shudder just thinking about it.

Aguero saved us from a fate worse than death and simultaneously brought global recognition for the club in producing one of the greatest moments in the history of sport
