Sorry, I apologise, I got that wrong. Quite a sweeping statement to make without checking. The full transfer fee was £42.2m. I've just looked at my info. A while ago I was privvy to some decent information from the club. Can't really say much more than that.

It's a big deal because i'm a City fan and it pisses me off when the media exaggerrate our player prices to make it look like all our deals involve silly money. Besides, the club have rejected this claim time and again. Why is it a big deal to you as a Spurs fan then? If it's not, why are you also insisting its £47 million when you don't know the exact figure either?

Load of rubbish.

When it suits the press they start adding wages in to the figure.

Last Friday, I think it was the Sun, they were running a headline that Chelsea were after Torres in a £95 million deal. Sells more papers than saying they would offer £50 million and his wages and bonuses over the length of the contract would come to £45 million.

It's so ridiculous when they do this. It's like me taking a £20k a year office job and claiming i've been 'signed' for £200k cos I intend to stay there for ten years. And what's worse is morons look at the figures and believe it.

If I stayed at this imaginary job til I retire I'd be a million pound office worker, nice.
