Expectations are high and rightly so but its blatantly obviously even to David Blunkett that we are going to be a far better side than last year,good attacking football will be the order of the day especially at home-a dozen more away points and we are on our way-not a cat in hells chance we will be as crap on the road as last season.johnmc said:The knives have been sharpened and are ready for use if we don't beat everyone 5-0. The last changes to our team should be getting a sale NOT LOAN deal for Benjani, Garrido and TBFH.
And a loan out for Etuhu, to give the lad some experience.
Also, can we call back Hart, Logan or Bojinov if injuries persist? (Less likely to need to recall Caciedo or Jo)
I can't see who we would get of Elano's quality. He will have a fair part to play, I think it's all down to him if he goes.
I can also see SWP playing in the middle at times this season, as he did last. The big difference is that we will have Tevez as RWF and not Vassell
Barry may see a few games at left back if Bridge gets suspended/injured, but if Bridge is out for a long time, I would expect Lescott to move out there ahead of Garrido. McGivern and Mee can also play left back and I hope to see them on the subs bench along with Weiss for a good few games. (We can't loan out the entire academy!)
As for Hughes, we would have sacked him before getting new players in, Mourinho has a much bigger pulling power for top names. If we don't get Europa place this year, I would expect to see him go next summer. If we are 12th or lower at Christmas, it would be hard for him to stay.
I think we will finish higher and be much better this season than we have been before and think the Hughes out brigade will have lost a lot of ground to the I Luv Lez club.

Always saw him more as a wide player than a playmaker, although I wouldn't complain.

Blackburn away is a definite potential banana skin. They often give teams a battle at Ewood as we saw ourselves last year where we were garbage between the first and last 10 mins.
There shouldn't be a complete meltdown by everyone if we lose.
Having said all that, I feel far more confident going there, Bolton, Hull, Stoke and other physical teams with the squad we have. The players we've brought are both physically and mentally stronger then when we went there last year.

I've always been behind hughes its no coincidence that the teams who have stuck with good managers have had some level of success, we need to do the same. Its funny how I haven't seen any hughes out threads for a while, i wonder why that is??? $$$$$$$$$$
