I don’t know with any certainty whether humans are significantly contributing to climate change or not, but I do know with absolute certainty that we are, at best, vandalising, and at worst, destroying the planet. I am not a big advocate for the removal of fossil fuels though as much as many of those who think we are doomed if we don't stop burning their by products into the atmosphere are and this view is shared by the majority of the developing nations rightly or wrongly although cleaner coal which we use now instead of lignite by and large is a good thing and a step forward if you subscribe to the view that greenhouse emission warms the atmosphere as many do but the issue is the overall effect on the planet as a result and that is too complex in my opinion to draw specific conclusions.

Melting ice in some parts of the world can it be contributed to higher levels of Co2 in the atmosphere when most global warming advocates as I prefer to call it , climate change means nothing to me as I subscribe to PV = NRT while more ice forming in other parts of the world at the same time is it just the spin of the earth and the impact the sun and the moon have on the earth as we can measure the earths spin around its axis is gradually slowing and the axis moving ever so slightly from its position of years gone by.

Does a warmer atmosphere mean higher sea levels as a direct causal and effect link , I don't know and even if it does what does that mean for humanity and the planets flora and fauna.

I think humans have a lot to answer for especially when it comes to our inhumanity to ourselves and the flora and fauna on the planet but despite the doom and gloom in some quarters that we are on the eve of destruction ( Barry McGuire I think it was in the late sixties ) I think the climate is resilient despite our mistakes and inability to learn from the past in many ways and in effect the climate dictates to man what man must do to survive almost self fulfilling if you like.

Modernisation and advancing if you like from fire and brimstone is our legacy we chose for ourselves and one will never know I firmly believe if we had stuck ourselves in the hunter and gatherer set throughout the planet weather this discussion wouldn't be taking place now regardless.

Maybe we kid ourselves into thinking we can change the climate , the weather , the five facets of the climate if you like including the biosphere maybe we can but unless we want to have a finite time on this planet and it could be our fate regardless that we do as that makes sense in a way but I don't think it will be because basically because the 3 per cent or so we contribute to the amount of Co2 and CH4 we burn that will ultimately be our undoing.

Science is a strange beast and as we age we tend to have a different perspective on what it can forecast and how accurate that forecast is.

Two separate arguments really. Unfortunately too many people with too much power influence the corporate side of not taking care of what we have.
Also in any nation but I suspect rather more so in developing nations there is an imperative to move forward and it is all too easy to take the polluting route.
Different cultures ascribe different values to things, see whaling.
Individuals litter the planet on an industrial scale. You only have to take a look at your local recycling centre if the bottle banks have not been emptied. Rather than take their bottles home they stack them up, as soon as you drive off it becomes someone elses problem. Ditto furniture left out on the street and mattresses in country lanes.
Far too many selfish people in the world I'm afraid. Not enough take care to think of another. What is the fix? I wish I knew but it gladdens my heart when I see things like kids on litter patrols and beach clean ups. This generation smokes less (I think) which I attribute to anti moking campaigns back in the day, drink driving is not as prevalent, again peer pressure.
Over fishing? (I know I'm almost done), if we don't fish the heck out of the oceans, someone else will. Difficult to get everyone to sing from the same hymn sheet and collectively look after stuff.
