What will it take to win the league?

Apart from the obvious 'get more points than anyone else'?

The way I see it we're struggling. Really struggling.
We have 16 games left. To get the same points as last season we can only drop 7 points more. So we're looking at 13 wins, 2 draws and a loss. The loss cannot be against United and indeed we will probably have to win that game. There is also a feeling that, with RVP, 89 points might not be enough. IMO this is the worst United team I've seen in a long time but unfortunately they have the best, game winning player they've had in a long time too.

Anyway, our fixtures;

Fulham home
QPR away
Liverpool home
Southampton away
Chelsea home
Villa away
Wigan home
Everton away
Newcastle home
Utd away
WBA home
Spurs away
WHU home
Swans away
Reading away
Norwich home

Now we all know trying to predict what might happen in those 16 games is churlish. But what I do know is somewhere in that lot we have to win at least 13 and probably 14. If we start to play as we can then we can do it.

Looks very, very tough to me though.

Why are we struggling? We are not struggling at all. We just havn't hit top form yet. We are still there. On the heels of Utd.

"Worst Utd team for a long time", Don't you believe it. Utd are not a one player team. Yes Van Rapist is massive difference, but don't be fooled into thinking the rest of the team are poor. They have been scoring goals from all over the team. When Carrick has been playing with Cleveley or Anderson, they have been really strong, its only when he plays the Ginger Tw@t or the decrepid shagger Utd have stuggled. I still think we have a better team and squad, but we need to be converting our chances better. We are slowly getting back to our form of last year, but it might be too late.

Yes we can still win the league, but we can't if you listen to the media or read the press. But if you watch with your own eyes, and put the bigger picture together, we can see that we are more than capable of winning the league again this year.

And when we do, it will be the biggest kicking Baconface pisscan has ever had.

I don't think it is the worst United team for a long time , no ..... they are a very good side ,and they have a number of players chipping in with goals.

But ask yourself this ..... how many of Van Persies winning goals have actually won them all three points in games , as his late goal at the Etihad did??

If it hadn't of been for his 'winners' , and i can think of numerous ones , i doubt very much whether they'd be top now.

I must of heard about 300 times already this year that this is the worst united team 'in a long while', it really isn't, their width has improved again on last year, two consistent fullbacks who are also wading in with goals and like it or not a midfield that creates more clear cut chances than anybody else.

This being said i fully expect us to win the next 7 up until Everton, that would be a 10 game winning streak and put immense pressure on them, i think people forget Van Rapist for all his great ability hasn't had the weight of a title on his shoulders before, they are obviously capable of blowing it, all we can do is stay on the tails and capitalise if they do!

imo they moved the ball quicker than us most of the season, so where our strikers face an 11 man organised defense they have 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 with defenders running back to goal.

overly simple i know but i cant be arsed going into volumns

I agree they move it quicker but it has nothing to do with us being unable to do the same, teams merely set up differently against us, United for all there wonder are very open, if a team didn't have a go at them then it would be a sad state of affairs indeed....... I think it was Peter the reindeer on sunday night who stated United and Spurs are the 2 best counter attacking teams in the league, simply ignoring the fact that City are now also the most feared team in the league, teams who come at us get murdered, see last year for reference!!!!

The advantage the Scum have is that many people think they are invincible, even after they crumbled last year posters on here think this..

They think the only way we can win it is if Van Persie gets injured or they lose points against a top team...

They always drop points on the run in, even with there strongest teams...

All we have to do is believe and be patient, they will drop points guaranteed and they will be against teams that no one expects..

They have got beat 3 times aleady this season, i expect another 3 defeats..

Concentrate on the FA cup and making sure we chase the league all the way so its not so easy for the twats and then some serious rebuilding in the summer

agree with every word

it feels like a game when you need a goal and the clock is running down, 30 mins left, we're ok, 20 mins left, come on!! 10 mins.............

Manure need to lose, hopefully Spuds will turn them over

It would be typical for RVP to last all season, Taggart has a pact with the devil

I think they will have to lose 4 to give us a chance, 3 defeats for them will finish them on 90 points, can't see us overhauling that

If we pull this off we will replace United as the masters of coming good at just the riight time.

Last season with just a few games Tolmie described United as a fighter who was out on his feet and looking for the final bell.

If they don't finish us off in the next few weeks we will win it again and they will not recover under Ferguson.

I certainly did. United looked at our games against Norwich and Newcastle, gauging their own problems going there.

Added to their arrogance that they could come to us and get a result, they were looking for outside favours.

The weekend just passed was the first time this season they will again have had the mindset that Arsenal would do the job for them.

Let's see what it looks like Saturday night and they are left to stew for 24 hours before playing Spurs and the gap is down to four.

Jesus, I've already heard them and pundits getting it in early, how pivotal that game at Old Toilet will be, let's just wait and see.

I compared us to Seb Coe last season, just sat on that shoulder, waiting to see if another gear was to be found.

Ideally, I want us to keep that gap of three or four points between us until end of February, it serves us well, applies concerted pressure.

The only thing in United's favour I see is our trips to Everton and Spurs.

Wishing Injury on RVP is a cop out! Get a grip! Lets win it properly then I don’t have to listen to the winging excuses!

They'll loose to us at the swam, Draw at Spurs and Loose at chelsea and we'll have to beat them on points again with an epic battle for goals in the last game of the season!
