What would your priorities be this summer?

was what I was gonna post.

Martinez = replacement for Pizarro, DeJong, MJ and Hargreaves
Hummels = replacement for Kolo, Savic, Bridge, Boyata and Cunningham
Hazard/Lavezzi = replacement for Weiss
Higuain = replacement for Tevez, Santa Cruz and Dzeko

Bring in Guidetti, job done. Net spend of around £40mill, well within budget for a CL team.

Martinez can also cover at CB as well as play midfield so our 4 CBs could be Kompany, Hummels, Lescott and Martinez.

Would it be too much to ask for Muniain instead of Higuain? I still think H is a world-class finisher, but maybe it would be wiser to invest in a younger (I know H is only 24) and more versatile player?

Fully agree with your thinking here. Don't know why people are talking about the likes of Van Persie here etc...we are fine with the 3 strikers we have. Only Tevez needs to be sold IMO.

Midfield, Defence and the lack of pace in attack is where we need to strenghten.

Panti is already permanent btw. Release Hargo, Pizarro goes back to Roma. Then in midfield get Martinez, he is tall, strong, versatile with good technique, similiar to Yaya. If De Jong is sold, then we could do with another midifelder for depth.

A top class CB, not too old but not too inexperienced. Think we could do better than Vertonghen tbh. And Kolo sold while we can still get money for him.

LB: Sell Kolarov. Don't agree with Filipo. Similiar age to Clichy and we need someone younger who can in the future/already next season become first choice. There is a lack of them but if the club can find someone good and young then go for it.

Agree about Hazard/Lavezzi. But not sure if it will be someone as expensive. And i think we could struggle to give them enough playing time.

The reason why I am not gongho on LB is coz I think Rekik might become a special player very soon. Filipe for me is the mixture of Clichy and Kolarov with skill. He is a fantastic crosser of the ball, he attacks his wing well and he is also dogged in defense. I think he'd be fantastic, but I doubt we'd go at the same position 3 years in a row. So I expect us to stick with the 2 we have.
As for CD, other than Hummels, who I don't think we can get, as it seems his team is about to win the Bundesliga again, and I doubt they would be interested in giving up one of their best players, I really don't see any CD better. The other I see is Lucio, but he is really old, and would be a stop gap. Vertonghen seems perfect, coz he fits the description. Big, tall, strong, young, technical and with leadership qualities. But best of all, he plays for a selling club, and he has voiced an interest in moving to a higher level.
As for Hazzard and Lavezzi. I think we need a player who is more direct. We don't have that in our arsenal. As for playing time, I never worry about this. Your performance and production will eventually determine that. If they are as good as they show for their clubs now, when they get here, they will get playing time. Lots of it.

I think Hummels would be good. He plays on the left-side aswell. Good left-foot aswell....pretty good passer. Not that fast but neither is Vertonghen. Good age. he would cost like 20m or something. He has also said that it would be hard to turn down if an big club came for him. He would be gettable but expensive. Which could be a stumbling block if we aren't ready to pay big money for him.
Rekik is a CB btw. As for Hazard/Lavezzi, i just think that if they get alot of playing time. It would be Nasri or someone else who will not get enough of playing time. Or the other way around. But yes we need someone with pace. But he must also have a decent footballing brain.

If we get hummels, I will be equally delighted. I just don't think we will. I know Rekik is a CB, but since he is quite young, I suspect he would break in at FB and gradually move to CB

Of course we aren't. In fact I think crazy transfer fees are a thing of the past.

And I agree with you on Martinez... I think we are very interested in signing him.
