There is a god Barry's gone!!!
Right a bit different but looking at the Tevez goal that got disaloud for a handball or a offside. It was a harsh handball to be given against him. You look at some of the stuff that other teams have gotten away with. It is a harsh decision. Van Der Vaart at Spurs had gotten away with 2 howlers compared to Tevez and also the Henry incident this time last year. What are the rules it seems a joke to be called up for it. I think for a handball if it hit the arm from the elbow down to the hand it should be classed as a handball. Above the elbow to the shoulder it shouldnt be classed as a hand ball. It seems that with different refs you get away with more over some other refs.

It was harsh ......

but to be honest i can't really tell if it went in off his arm , or his chest , and i've viewed it on numerous occasions ....... so it must be been very difficult for the referee , and linesman.

But it looks to me like it was just 'payback' time for the Shaun Goater winner against Wigan a decade or so ago.

I think they err on the side of strictness when it creates a goal. I couldn't tell if it was off the arm or the chest and haven't seen any shots of the goal from behind the net... You could say they wanted to avoid a controversy, but honestly what fan would have seen the infraction!?

Having seen the replays, I don't think it hit his arm (couldn't tell at the time)and I'm not sure how the ref or linesman could tell. Was it disallowed for handball or for offside?

I know it was a hard decision but if that was Arsenal , Rags , Chelsea or Spurs at home they would of been given the benefit of doubt. The comentary is a joke a definite hand ball yet the pictures dont show it clearly.

In all fairness it looked like handball to me. I've only seen the replays etc on MotD but it certainly appears that Carlos pushes his right arm onto the ball in order to get it under control. It seems like it's either his shoulder or upper arm that actually makes contact with the ball.
That's what I thought, anyway.

I'm right in line with where the Tevez "handball" occurred as I sit in 109, I wasn't 1005 certain at the time but I was leaning more towards chest than arm, having seen replays I'm pretty sure it was chest rather than arm. What it certainly wasn't was deliberate handball and a booking.

what angers me is not the call, but the media saying it was a correct call, or implying that it was obviously, clearly a handball, as though to say Tevez is a cheat.

just another way to slur our team

If i had to make a definite decison , that's the way it looked to me too.

It was borderline and appeared to have steered the ball slightly, hence the ref more inclined to give a handball. If you look at the replay, the nearest defender never claimed for handball at the time until he saw the other defender by the penalty spot claiming.
