The conte club - copped off with a really fat ugly women who took me back to Eccles and got out all manner of sex toys.

I was then on a stage at Granada studios being squirted with water in the face by sooty (the puppet) in the same clothes I had worn on my night out about 4 hours later haven taken my niece on a trip.

Quite a bizarre 24 hours in my life even by my standards.

Does anyone remember Pips? I never went I was to young but it was always advertised on the Radio

Yep me and rammyblues frequented Pips in the 1970's, I want to say 1976 to 79 he may say different. We loved the Bowie/Roxy Music room, and the Punk room, went in the normal disco bit for the last 20 minutes to see if you could pull....lol Pips in Bolton was another we went to and Cranberry Fayre in the middle of the moors somewhere over Darwen/Blackburn way. Happy days but a long time ago.

The Phoenix rock club on Oxford Rd. 1977, I was 17 and had found 'home' .... Got broke on Breakers, got laid, got a sore neck from headbanging, and made many lifelong friends there. Carried on going on and off until it's demise (as a rock club) in the 90's.

In a twist of fate, It's A Scream (student aimed bar) downstairs became part of my wife's patch as area manager for Bass, (who I met in the Phoenix in 1987) she took me in to see the Phoenix all closed and derelict a few years ago .... was slightly altered from our days since becoming a shitey dance club for it's final years, but could still great to see one last time. Now demolished.

I think DeVille's on Lloyd st was first club I went in. They had a punk/goth night once a week in the early 80s.
