what's the first nightclub you went to?

Re: what's the first nightclub you went to!

Amnesia in Ibiza at 16 years old in 1998.

I was always into techno and house from my uncles influences on me, ever since I was about 5 or 6. I grew up listening to DJ sets on tape.

When I was 16 I went to Ibiza with my family and met two blonde Dutch girls from Leiden who were staying at the same hotel as us. One night they said they we're going to a club and would I like to go, of course I said "of course!"

So we jumped in a taxi and went to Amnesia in the middle of the island on a Thursday night which was a Cream night. David Morales, Seb Fontaine and Paul Oakenfold were on. Well, it was an amazing experience. I didn't need any drugs, just the experience of my first ever club night and it was in arguably the best club in the world (how that changed later in life!). Fantastic!

That was a first taster and ever since I've been mad about clubbing. I tried to get into a few in Manchester after that but at 16 they didn't let me in anywhere for ages.

At 17 I got into Tangled at The Phoenix to see Sander Kleinenberg before he got big. This was my first Manchester clubbing experience. Again, fantastic! Used to go to The Phoenix quite a lot after that. Went to The Academy club nights a few times too. Then I found Sankeys!

Nothing compared to Amnesia though. The night I first went they filmed the video for David Morales' "Needin U" that night (a bit cheesy that song but still holds good memories for me). I went back to Ibiza the following two Summers. I've loved Amnesia ever since, the place is amazing! Should be off to Ibiza for my 2013 Summer holiday too; it's the best place in the world!
