Whats the poshest Hotel you've stayed in

Mandarin Oriental or Shanghai La chains probably but my personal favourite is the Eastern & Oriental in Penang.
Ooh I wanted to go there but it was too expensive for us. Some 5 star hotels are cheap as chips in Malaysia though. We stayed in the Zenith in Cameron Highlands for about 65 quid. I was in Malaysia during covid and some of the prices were insanely cheap. Traders directly opposite the Petronas Twin Towers for 70 quid (didn’t stay there though because it’s just round the corner from my house). But my fanciest hotel was probably the Silk Path in Hanoi. Stayed there on our honeymoon. We figured the best room in a 4 star hotel was probably better and cheaper than the worst room in a 5 star one, and we were right. The hotel was less fancy, but I never use any of the facilities anyway. But the room and service were fantastic.

We stayed at Traders but many a year ago. It was very nice indeed and we had a great time there. KL is probably my 2nd favourite city. I could happily live there.

I’ve lived there for 5 years but I’m leaving next month. It’s a great place to live, but it’s just not economical any more. The company I work for was fucked by covid and has never recovered.

On our honeymoon we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore. We arrived and they said we are very sorry but we are fully booked so we need to upgrade you to a suite at no extra cost.

We’d just come from what was then called the Royal Yacht Club in Phuket, which had recently been voted the third best out of town hotel in the world.

I’ve stayed in larger, grander places that would be considered ‘posh’ in a world of glitz and rich people with no taste, but Hazlitt’s in Soho Square is my favourite place of understated and genuine elegance.
