Unbelievable!

-- 27 Jan 2013 23:42 --

Whelan’s ugly challenge on García during Manchester City's 1-0 victory at the Britannia Stadium does not come under the FA’s remit for a retrospective charge.

The Stoke City midfielder will not face an investigation, even though the Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry and Clarke Carlisle, the Professional Footballers’ Association chairman, suggested that action would be taken.

Webb and his officials were criticised for not having a clear view of the tackle, which happened early in the second half, and did not even caution the Republic of Ireland international or award a free-kick.

The FA can only take action after games for “off the ball” incidents and Webb, who was only yards away from the incident, is alleged to have told players that he did not have “the right angle” to make a judgment.

Carlisle, speaking on ITV’s FA Cup highlights programme, said Whelan can expect action but there will be no sanctions

Hold on a minute!

Is this the same Webb that never saw the Balo incident on Parker yet chose to take action after the game?

Double standards?

Probably right as he saw the incident but he didn't see the stamp from his angle.Still a disgrace though and even though that thug and no mark Whelan only ever represented us in a minor capacity i wish all records of him ever being here could be erased! He has previous with us as well, didn't he get Shaunny sent off?

Odious reject!

I dont understand the inconsistencies and contradictions Dan,it seems the posts are moved on each incident, and depending who the offender is.......

I am genuinely gobsmacked, not to mention angry and disillusioned with the fucking game!

i really don't understand the rule that is stated in that article. it just doesn't make sense. everyone knows that incidents that were unpunished can be challenged retrospectively, so why not in this case?

i really don't know and i really don't care

Retrospective Action is a nonsense, however if it can't even deal with dead cert cases like this then what is the point!

Complete Unfunny Joke.

There was enough evidence for Garcia to go to the police with an assault case! Eden Hazard was interviewed by police and the FA think a 3 game ban is insufficient. But Glen 'City cast off' Whelan's premeditated assault is OK!

Why don't the FA do one and fuck off and stop ruining our game.
