When can I officially be concerned?

Yes lets sack yet another manager like we have consistently done for the last 30 odd years .....no coincidence that weve won nothing in all that time ...........Theyve given him the best tool to the job ..ie loads of money ...........The 2nd best is TIME to complete the job ..........Irrespective of whether i would have picked him or stuck by him personally it really is imperitive we as a club are seen to give managers a decent chance to get it right .

I have always said Hughes out from day 1

What I want to know is most people still seem to be a fan and I rally hope he cuts it

BUT

When am i offically allowed to be genuinley concerned about the state of play

If we get fuck all at an out of form Liverpool - Will people class that or will we get the excuse of

"we didnt win at Anfield, fucking hell stop moaning its a hard fixture"

if we dont pick up 3 points Hull at home very convincingly, will i get - its a draw, its a point we havent lost have we?"

If we dont get 3 points Sunderland away will i get

"there doing really well, we should be glad of a point"

Where does it stop??

Please can the Hughes love in brigade clearly state when I can be justified in my berating of the man

Thank you

There's a chance this 'Out of form Liverpool' might regain their form on the day. Oh, and btw... Played 14 - LOST ONE!!!!!!

It is no coincidence due to a combination of no money, and players and manager not good enough to win something. If we'd stuck with Frank Clarke or Alan Ball do you think we would have won something?

Why from Day 1?

Doesn't suggest that you are completely objective and kept an open mind about him, does it?

I have got no idea whether Mark Hughes will ever deliver a top 4 finish and trophies after 33 barren years. Neither does anyone else, though most blues hope he does.

What I do know is that the most successful managers in English football have almost without exception been given time. Ferguson and Wenger are obvious examples, but think also of Mercer/Allison (who did not achieve overnight wonders), Shankly & Paisley, etc. There are not many examples of managers achieving overnight success, and no examples of overnight success being (a) achieved and (b) sustained. This is why less than 18 months in to Hughes' tenure is no time to get rid. If he was going to be sacked, he should have been sacked as soon as the ADUG takeover was complete. Since that didn't happen, he has got to be given time.

If you listen to what the Chairman said, he reported that the whole ADUG team - from the Shiekh down - was bemused by the 'hughes for the chop' stories coming out last year. That suggests to me that whether you want him or not, Hughes is in the post for the foreseeable future.

You might want to find a way of living with it.

You don't make decisions on a managers position on the basis of the odd game or even a run of gamesyou make a judgement at the end of a full season and taking ALL factors into consideration.

The way the Hughes haters go on after a bad result I sometimes wonder whether its the managers responsibility to tell each player on every touch what they shoudl be doing with the ball, or where he should be positioned on the pitch in any given minute.

If for instance during a run of bad games the manager is without his main striker or suffers a horrendous refereeing decision these should be considered in mitigation.

You set the manager a full season target, therefore he shoudl only be judged at the end of that season.

what would you say his full season target is then? top 6?...........i agree we must stick with hughes until the end of this season as i don't see who we would be able to replace him with as the top managers are always reluctant to swap clubs mid season, if however we don't finish in the top 6 then i think we must then look into replacing him after the world cup with a guus hiddink tactically sound manager. your correct in what you say regarding players taking responsibility for how they play once they are out on the pitch but surely hughes has to take responsibility for some shoddy decisions in recent games also?....it seems to me that with some people on here hughes can do no wrong and every bad game is met with "it's not hughes fault the players are playing poorly"......in my eyes if results are going against a team and players are playing badly then it IS the managers fault as surely it is his job to kick them players right up the arse so they improve the next time they step onto the pitch!!! my worry with hughes is that he doesn't seem to be doing that as i have seen no improvement from the 1st draw against villa to the game at burnley. seems hughes is a marmite manager but love him or hate him he's ours so we have to support him. who's to say that once the players click with what hughes is asking of them we may go on a mega unbeaten run......we can hope. i know i'd rather be having a dire season only a few pts outside the top 4 with a game in hand than lingering down the opposite end of the table.

Watch that "goals for" column look silly once Robinho is back fit.. he'll rocket us up to fourth. No doubt about it.

You have a lot of faith in a player returning from injury who performed well below his best during the cold winter months last season. Lets hope your optimism is rewarded.

In answer to the OP I would say from the moment he walked through the door in the summer of 2008. I'm guessing that's when you started your Hughes out agenda and who are we to tell you when you can be concerned. Carry on as before and make sure you are on here at the end of the season EVEN, and I want to make this perfectly clear, even if we do finish top 4 and get to a cup final playing exciting attacking football.

Quite right CHT. Changing the goalie the minute you let a goal in is no way to run an airworks. I am at ease with two steps forward and one back, as opposed to the other way round which we have experienced since mid-70's.

The problem as I see it, is that the ball is round. It's a truly unforgiving shape and one which has a habit of biting yer arse just as you're about to predict the nature of the roll.

We are vastly beyond where we have been in the Prem. Better players, better set up behind the scenes, and Hughes has had a substantial finger in each of these pies.

We are not going to win every match, we are not going to score beautiful goals, there may be matches where we are left pulling out what is left of the few strands of our silky locks, but the overwhelming motion of MCFC is forward, as it has never been for decades.

Be very concerned if we appear to be doing no better than Darwen did under the stewardship of the Welsh Wizard. Apart from that, enjoy it.
