'Chelsea finished eight points clear last season and won the League Cup, but have lost nine of their 16 league games so far and are 16th in the table, one point above the relegation places'. 2015.

'Leicester took the Premier League title by 10 points but have won just five top-flight games out of 25 this season, and could become the first defending champions to be relegated since 1938' 2017.

'Liverpool FC’s nightmare Anfield run continues with sixth League home defeat in a row. While defensive injuries have dealt Klopp a band hand, the goals have dried up at the other end as Liverpool gone eight League games at home without a win. This time last year, Liverpool had just leapt 25 points clear at the summit of the Premier League, but the latest result leaves them 22 points behind City with 10 games remaining, and four points off fourth-placed Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification having played a game more'. 2021.
Those are all examples of big drop offs yes, but the teams mentioned started the following seasons relatively slow and continued to drop points throughout. However I don't think any of them ever took only 5 points from 9 league games in a row.

City took 23 points from their opening 9 league games and have since taken 5 from the next 9. Clearly a much more sudden and severe drop off which is complete contrast to anything we've seen from city in years and is why I think it's more unprecedented.

he said he will quit if feels players dont react to him. I dont know how far we are from that but players aint doing whatever they are told unless they are specifically told to be super slow in build up, dont press, dont track back, dont work hard be second in duels, stop creating chances etc.
we had countless trainings since this slump started and not sure anything improved at all. if we would host Tottenham tomorrow probably its another big beating we would suffer. and if we could repeat the Liverpool game or Villa game we would go down the same way...

he needs to use January window as a wake up call to the players.
"he needs to use January window as a wake up call to the players."

The whole club needs a kick up the arse from Khaldoon down to the fans.

The complacency from all has been appalling.

That's splitting hairs mate. They are clearly significant drop-offs and very comparable. If we win our next 3 games, ours still won't be worse than either Chelsea's for example. Or if you look at our last 16, it is better than theirs. Leicester's is even more extreme, and Liverpool's is just as meaningful, particularly as it took them from top of the table favourites, to outwith the CL spots.

The point is, big drop-offs do happen. Ours is big, because of how long we managed to hold it off, and because of the extent of injuries.
