When was the Pep decision made?

You have to assume then that Peps two amigos must have asked him his opinion on our recent signings.
I'm hoping therefore that he saw something in otamendi and mangala to make them great defenders.
I'm hoping that with bony, it just shows us that he's got a sense of humour.
Don't think Bony was a Pep buy. He was a January buy for Pellers to try to catch Chelsea.

I know someone who interviewed for a social media role with the club in May 2015 and he was told in no uncertain terms that Pep was on his way & he said that pretty much everyone at the club seemed to know it, so it must've been long before that.

Salford Paul told us 3 years ago.
He was a full season out and said Pep would be in charge last summer (2015) but to be fair to him all the transfers made last summer Pep was mentioned during negotiations knowing full well he'd be in charge this summer.

Remember quite a few posters saying there was a verbal agreement in place from when he joined Bayern 3 years ago that City would be his next destination

Hmmmm..... are you sure? Not calling you out here but I find it a little strange that this management team would allow staff to gossip about managerial changes to prospective employees ....

We approached Pep informally to replace Mancini but he was already at that point heading to Bayern. I think Pellegrini was always a stop gap with a clause that his contract could be ended with notice like it has. Pep had a choice to renew his contract at Bayern and he decided not to, naturally the second he made that decision either in private or whatever we approached him. At that point, United were nowhere, Chelsea were nowhere, Wenger wasn't budging... That leaves Liverpool who have just got Klopp... If he wanted to come to England where else could he of gone?

Even now, the only real suitor is United and they haven't sacked LVG and still might not. I think the job he would of really wanted in the league is Arsenal to be in London and that job isn't going to be available it seems anytime soon.

The question really is when did Pep decide he was not renewing his contract and that is probably just down to him personally, he probably decided this season would be his last before the season started but what if Pellegrini was in for winning 4 trophies now? I think it was all done in the German winter break when Pep wasn't busy, we were struggling and it was obvious we were going to struggle for the league and others.

He's not a blue & I guess it wasn't gossip as they actually knew. I don't think he'd make it up but you never know..

True, you never know. One of the good things Soriano has done though is to stop leaks from the club and, if I remember righty, at Barcelona they planted false stories so they could close down leaks, so I would be surprised. Authorised leaks, though, that is another thing altogether :D

the decision was made on a tuesday.... just like most business decisions in football.

Way back in 2012 when we hired Trixi et. all. Wanted Pep when he left Barca... failed... and took Pellers as a place-holder.

This has been in the making for years, everything has been built to this moment, it started with Txiki and Ferran - Txiki wanted to Pep before he went to Bayern but didn't actually make an offer as they wanted to do it the summer Roberto was sacked - by that point Pep had agreed to join Bayern - so no formal offer was made - convently city appointed the manager that Bayern has as second choice to Pep (Manuel) on the same length of contract that Pep had just signed. Txiki said to pep if you want to come to England you know where there is an opportunity - Pep replied "I know, I know, you don't need to keep reminding me) -All from the books on pep which I suggest you read ( Guillem Ballagues and Pep Confidental) great reads to get into the mind of the genius. The reason Manuel was offered an extension was in case Pep wanted to stay in Bayern - city would save face - if not Manuel would get a nice pay out -'win win' to say I am excited about this is an understatement - I have wanted this for years - the greatest manager in the world and he is ours.

As I've said in previous threads. I'm convinced otemendi, sterling and KDB were pep targets, maybe even mangala too. The ball has been rolling since the other amigos arrived. It's just been a case of getting the infrastructure in place with regards to youth and scouting system. Pep was always coming, but not until the club was geared up to run as it is now. There's no way he would come until the ship sails like Bayern and Barcelona. Just my opinion tho.

Everyone says that the Pep appointment was made long ago and that pellers was simply a caretaker until his contract with BM expired.
I have no doubt that KDB joined because he was informed that Pep would be our manager.
Surely then, all our recent transfers would have come after a quick word with him. There'd be no point in signing a player on a 5 year contract if Pep didn't rate him and would have to put up with him for at least 3 years.
So was he consulted over the mangala, otamendi or bony transfers?
Either the decision to appoint Pep was a lot more recent than everyone thinks or he actually rates those players.

I was told on good authority at the Wigan cup final in 2013, he had been wanted to replace Mancini when we looked to have lost the league in 2012 but we know what happened on 93:20 !!!
