Where do the glory hunters sit?

Heaven forbid we should attract fans who like winning football teams and want to spend money that we can use to improve the team. Let's make them feel unwelcome and drive them across town.

I think I must be a plastic fan then.

I don't go to games - I can't. Not enough money and I'm the only footie fan in the family. Although I've tried to get my daughter interested, she's still not fussed about the divine game, and I can't justify either the money to go with a disinterested child or the time to go at weekends on my own (single parenthood has its benefits as in I don't have an idiot of an ex husband around, but it also has its downsides).

Should I trot out my Maine Road credentials to justify it though? Used to go week in week out with my dad as a child and have been to matches since before sprog came along. Does that make me not plastic? Or should I just hang my head in shame that I have to watch matches on tv?

I think I'll just say fuck it to anyone who is mean spirited enough to doubt the fact that I'm a fan of this club and will be till I turn up my toes. I don't have anything to prove and as a female, at least I don't have to get into the "my dick is bigger than yours" type contests that go on ;-)

It's not up to anyone else to tell you how to be a fan of the club.

This whole thread is very mean spirited indeed.
Why dont you just enjoy our stadium being full, and show any new fans what it means to be part of this club.
Lets have an end to this thread, and others like it please.
I didn't intend it to go that way, was just curious.

We have a new lad near us and he was made more than welcome
Why call the thread glory hunters then, ANY new fan is welcome as far as I'm concerned, if we can grow to a point where we need to extend the stadium to 60,000 plus, it increases our revenue, thus making us more viable for FFP rules, and the players get to play in front of a bigger crowd, imagine some of the big CL nights in front of 60,000 fans or more, that's what it is all about, I don't care where they come from, how long they have supported City or how many times they have watched a game at the stadium, new fans are part of our future if we are to become THE biggest team in the world!

This is a shit thread.....have never had the money to attend on a week in week out basis and dont mind admitting it (still havent).....does it make me a glory hunter....er no. I went to every Europa league match last year at home and plenty of others, have a ticket for Sat and Wednesday.

Listened to all the games on GMR I didnt attend when we were in the third tier of English football (attended around a half dozen), went Wembley for the play off final without a ticket and could not afford a ticket off the touts. Watched in a pub next to Wembley with some cockney red watching the champs league final replay in the background - screamed the place down when Dickov scored and weaver saved those pens... was at Hillsborough watching Keegan's army destroy Wednesday with the new Ali B ruling the pitch, chanted ALI ALI ALI, hands waving up and down in the air...

So when I turn up to watch my beloved blues on Sat in a seat I ve never sat in before and probably will never sit in again, do I really have to sit around self trumped up tossers concentrating on negative bullshit instead of being immersed into a carnival of happy bubbly blues???

If this unwelcoming atmosphere is what our club is going to become then I might just not bother trying to introduce my nephew to the blues as this is not what I remember from the spirit and passion that used to exist in the KIPPAX. ctid - shit thread, sort it out!

Great Post!
So are you 'meanies' saying that we can't have any NEW fans?
The way I see it is; say you had a choice of a fit babe or an ugly one? Who the fkcu you gonna chose!.........And so it is with these young/New fans. I am sure, heaven forbid, if our luck turns bad some of 'your so called glory hunters' will fall away BUT some will stay, have kids blah blah blah... I say greet newcomers with open arms

I've already taken photos of Chinese with their new city shirt inside the stadium, and that was 2 seasons ago! Must be plenty more daytrippers now.

Nowt new in that blue, remember when Sun played for us...national hero that boy.

Anyway "plastics" are "fans" that don't go to games so to answer the OP, nowhere as they wont turn up. Any new "fans" that have no interest in getting to a game or no idea who we are playing, meh you're no blue to me, anyone else no matter where your from, what you sound like or what your story is you're as much a blue as me.

I seen 3 Chinese lads, 2 were wearing ugg boots with nasri on their shirts with cameras around their necks.

Come to our ground by all means, watch a match and have a good day out, just don't use our shirts as souvenirs though.

An endearing lack of any fashion sense does not make them gloryhunters.

Some of the long term professional moaners that we have all had to endure down the years are going to be insufferable over the next few seasons as they operate some sort of vetting system for anyone they are sat near to at games.

I can see spontaneous City trivia questions springing up every five minutes as some confused looking Chinese guy tries desperately to guess where we signed Shaun Goater from before he get lynched for being a 'new fan'.

Happy with them wearing the shirts, it's more money in the bank! Should probably leave the UGG boots at home or throw then in the canal or give them to a girl being that they are girls shoes.

If there's going to be empty seats then you may as well fill them with free spending souvenir hunters, looks better on TV to have a full stadium, makes a better atmosphere inside the ground and they spend amounts of money that us clued up and stingy northerners can't be arsed with.

I do think they should be forced to drink at least 6 pints per ticket though just to cover any costs.

Just don't let them bring badly spelled banners that can later be used to snigger at by opposition fans, that'd be a bit raggy.

Jesus Christ. We've won nothing but one FA cup and people are going on about "glory hunters". Until we actually do the Premiership then you can't even start thinkin about chasing these imagined glory hunters... at the moment we just have people who are excited about a club in the ascendency, leave them be.

We're struggling to sell out Napoli v City in the Champions League, so no-one can get agitated about this perceived new wave of supporters. In my view everyone is welcome, be they returning fans or tourists.

I'm a glory hunter. My dad told me City were great and I believed him.

Soon after I started going to Maine Rd City won the 2nd Div Championship, the Championship and the FA Cup.

i took my youngest with me today who is 4 and it was his 1st game. pure glory hunter.
sat in 109 with my mate (as there was a space next to him....sold out??? i dont think so)but i usualy sit in 110 where my season ticket is. he is a pure glory hunter and realises how easy it is to support city!

count me in on the glory hunting.

I am sure that most of us will agree having sat with the"long time I am god fuck you season ticket holders" brigade. Who's only joy seem's to be slagging the fuck out of our players for the last 30 years automatically makes them legends.

I have had my ticket for 2 games and fuck anyone who thinks my lack of a ticket but not my support for the last 30 years makes me not passionate enough.

well to be honest, supporters are called 'supporters' because they financially help maintain a supporting network to the club. your a fan, not a supporter. You enjoy watching man city play but have only supported them for two games in 30 years? haha! i think those with cards who put themselves in financial hardship to get to the games can infact say ''fuck you, i have been here for years.''

What I meant was I have a season ticket for the first time ever (as I could not afford one before) and have been to the first two games. Fuck me I have bought so many fucking tickets for Maine road and the COM'S/Eastlands/Etihad that I think I can feel happy with the financial contribution I have made.

New season ticket holder does not equal shit fan.

How many years will I need to have had it before I am allowed to be a blue in your eyes oh mighty one?
