I think we could do OK this season but I still feel we will fall short of the title. In too many games at home last season against what we would call inferior opposition we looked far too predictable going forward. This is because teams knew that if they put ten men behind the ball and at the same time stifled Silva then City would struggle to break them down. Our possession statistics in some games were phenomenal without us ever looking like scoring. The addition of Sterling and possibly De Bruyne should give us another dimension to our play and get us over the line in more of these games.
Where we really fell short last season was in midfield when particularly away from home we could get overrun and I'm worried the same will happen this season. Delph is a good player but he isn't the world class midfielder we have been crying out for and this is where our transfer policy has fallen down this summer. If you look at some of the players who have moved clubs this summer Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Vidal, I really can't understand why we weren't in for any of these players knowing how difficult the Pogba deal was going to be. This area of the team is in much more need of addressing than bringing in a De Bruyne type player.
As it stands I think we'll get closer to Chelsea but still finish behind them but United and Arsenal will be closer to us as well. In the Champions League we'll still struggle against any opposition of real quality.
