City’s current elo points is 2080 so only 30 off the top. If we started the next season with say eight straight wins in the PL we could be top all time.

The above doesn’t show the natural peak more a sequence of dominance (wins) since it’s is very difficult to compare teams in different eras any other way.

I couldn’t care less about the United treble winning team but, for those who do, they are way down the list as they lost too many times while still collecting trophies and had more narrow wins against weaker opposition. The best United team was actually in 2008 and ranks 11th.

As you can see Pep has 3 of the top 4.

City is dominating a division that is by far and away the strongest in the World and at the time when the PL is the strongest it’s ever been.

Forget all the shite about the 99 rags - they embodify the old phrase “better to be lucky than good”.

3 titles on the bounce and a CL triumph as champions puts us level with the far and away best ever rags, the 2007-09 cohort, but of course our treble acts as the tiebreaker elevating us beyond them.

You always look back on your youth with rose tinted glasses and so the dippers in the mid 80s are my personal call as the best ever English team til now - peak Souness, Dalglish and Hansen and they too won 3 on the bounce and a European Cup but they couldn’t manage the treble either.

So surely any dispassionate analysis puts us on our own at the very top. One thing’s for sure - if we retain either the league or the CL next season there’s no argument to be had

If you are the actual Premier League champions when you enter and also go on to win the Champions League, it eclipses anything Liverpool and United have managed to do in the modern era.

It underlines everything.

Especially so, when you defend your Premier Crown in the following season.

Ferguson took 13 years to win Champions League and hadn't even reached the Final prior to '99.

In the seven years Pep has been here, he has won 12 major trophies.

In the same period, Ferguson won five and I'm including the Super Cup in that.

It's not even close now, United count 21 Charity/Community Shields in their trophy cabinet.

Mate, missed a significant detail. There was a bloody World Cup mid season too. I could be wrong but I think we had the most players away taking part than any side in Europe

Can we forget the rags team from 1999 because we are only keeping them in the news, this is City,s time and Manchester is blue as the whole world will see on Monday night. Leave our scummy neighbours in the past where they belong.

Very true, we are only the third team in the last 11 seasons to win the competition having qualified as champions.

United did their treble having finished runners up to Arsenal the previous season, wouldn't even have been in the old European Cup!

So that leaves just us and Bayern as the only true treble winners
Celtic and Ajax.
