Same in my small town/large village. When we came here 25 years ago we had a police station as did the next similar sized town 3 miles away. All closed down now and sold off for development.
 
No problem finding a copper over here.............just park up outside a Tim Hortons (a coffee/doughnut franchise) and one will be along shortly.

The problem with cops today, especially the younger ones, is they are so bloody arrogant.

Speeding drivers would be their specialty these days, an easy catch on our long straight roads.

Its impossible to say it without sounding sexist but 5ft 2 women should not be police officers out on the beat. Every time you see a video of them dealing with something they either have to call for backup from male officers or they react like a twat, such as this. Stuff that would take 2 men to deal with ends up taking 2 women and 2 men, must cost them a fortune. The risks involved for them must be high too, I'm sure a dick head would much rather take his chances against a short woman than a bloke
 
The problem is that coppers don't exist anymore. Police forces are so undermanned that they pretty much take on anyone who's prepared to apply. That's why we see young 9 stone weaklings patrolling our streets while the more experienced lazy bastards who 'know the game' drive round chasing speeding cars, sitting on their fat arses in 'specialist' cyberspace teams, and posing on TV reality shows.
The days of the public being protected by the police are long gone. Criminal society has been aware of that for years.
Don't expect things to improve.

The police lost most public respect during the miner's strike 40 years ago. They've done nothing to improve their reputation and in many areas of their work are even worse.

The term "never trust a copper" has never been more appropriate than nowadays imo.
 
one of my best mates is in Police, had to go through months and months of training - dealt with countless violent situations and was in hospital recently as a dog attacked him and ripped his leg to shreds.

TBH who in their right mind would want to be a cop ? Imagine going to work and having to wear a stab vest all day, risking your life for shit pay ffs. My youngest son fancied it when he was 19, I put him right off that fucking idea :)

Is it really the Tories ? I always thought they were the law & order party.
