Where were you on Sunday 30th May 1999 (Gillingham play off game?)

Wembley. Went down on the Saturday stayed at a lad’s flat we knew in Highgate and spent a raucous Sat night in the Winchester pub singing City songs all night. Was a bit rough for the match but powered on through like a trooper!

Couldn't get to Wembley, long story. Watched the game in the Dragon in Whitefield, amazing day, never to be forgotten.
Glad I managed to get to Ewood a year later.. special memories.

Wembley.

Me and my dad had two tickets in the lower tier behind the net, however sold them to my mums cousin as my uncle managed to get us tickets in what was the second tier in those days on the front row.

When my dad picked up the tickets from my uncles contact at the ticket office, he asked who my dad was taking to which the reply was his son, the guy at the ticket off said, well if he likes oasis tell him to take his album covers to get signed as your going to be sat next to Noel Gallagher.

I was 18 at the time and thought I knew better and took nothing with me. Not even a camera.

Anyway, turns out the two he got us were with all the VIPs. Sat to my right were Noel Gallagher, Goldie and Keith Allen. Curly Watts to my left and some guy from Eastenders behind us. Can’t remember his name.

Noel and his crew left at 2-0 down, I would have followed if he hadn’t been for my dad insisting we see it out to the end.

Noel soon came rushing back in.

Great day and memories. Actually found my ticket signed by Noel the other day.

At Wembley with my Dad, crying in the stand when Dickov equalised as my 14 year old brain had never had to deal with such a flip of emotions in such a short space of time!

RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus... I got thrown out of the house when Gillingham scored the second (because I shouted "Bollocks" really loudly with the patio doors open) and biked down to the nearest NAAFI bar (The Peninsular Club) to watch the rest of the game... Went home a few Keo's later and all was well in the household ;-)
