Well you cannot really judge anywhere when visiting during Covid. They took lockdown pretty seriously. You should try again...;)I will preface by saying that the only time I've visited was during the summer of 2020 and a lot of COVID rules were still in place - the Clonakilty I saw was pretty much entirely shut and boring. Would be happy to give it a second go, but as a man not into fishing I'd have to say its only the sausages, bacon, and pudding that puts it on the map.
Clon is a vibrant little town with a huge music and food scene. And several of the best beaches in Ireland all within a few miles.
BTW I visited Charleston, South Carolina during lockdown. Not a lot to do. Went back a year later; what a difference. Wonderful city.
