Which City game has annoyed you the most?

It's the only Champions League Final I've ever seen where so many of the questions in the press conferences before the game were about the referee's terrible decisions against Pep's teams in the past, even going as far back to his days at Barcelona.
Lahoz was the referee in that incredibly bent CL fixture against Liverpool a year or two before but he had also screwed Pep over when he was at Bayern too and multiple times in Spain wirh Barcelona.
That's why this isn't a game that bothers me as I knew we weren't winning it as soon as the ref was announced.
I still think the team Pep put out was in response to the referee selection, it was a team who's main strength should have been keeping hold of the ball rather than winning it back, I think Pep and the players knew that any kind of tackle would result in a freekick to Chelsea and probably a card for us so we played Gundogan instead of Fernandinho (who had just come back from injury so probably wouldn't have lasted 90 minutes) and Rodri (who was far from the player he became at that time, check out the comments about him on here from that season, Plodri, etc, etc).
Even afterwards I think it was Mason Mount who said something about how they knew they could be more physical than us, this extra physicality resulted in us losing KDB for at most a yellow card (I can't even remember if Rudiger got that now).
Great Post. Explains everything for me.....at the time ,I was confused.no words to say.
Watched the match at a mates in Denton.
Just an empty feeling inside afterwards...something was not right,on balance , I couldn't figure it out at the time and I love to analysis detail post match, but I had no words
That hurt. Really hurt
Ever get the feeling you've bin cheated..

Blackburn away 0-2 FA Cup QF 2007. A glimmer of light in a terrible season and an awful side. It was a pathetic effort by the players given what was at stake. To cap it off, City ‘Fans’ were fighting with each other.
Just like most weeks in the post-match now then, even after a win. We don't know how lucky we were back in those days!

Funny isn't it, how good we've been for so long that you'd have to go back years to find a genuinely annoying or depressing game, as opposed to just a frustrating one.

West Ham in the FA Cup in 2006 being followed by Blackburn in the FA Cup in 2007 was such a low point. I was convinced we'd never win anything ever again.

For all his faults, and for all he made us boring to watch, Pearce did make us solid at the back (for a mid-table team) and getting that team to back-to-back FA Cup quarters was a decent achievement.

But on both occasions he just didn't have the nous, nor the motivational skill, to get the lads one step further. That West Ham one in 2006 was especially annoying because we were at home.

I've still never forgotten (or forgiven) Kiki Musampa gifting the ball to Nigel Reo-Coker twice in the space of 30 seconds to give West Ham a 2-0 lead. A decent performance away from an FA Cup semi-final against Boro, and then who knows what could have happened.

Blackburn away was just depressing. A shit team that had somehow reached another quarter-final showing absolutely no fight whatsoever and going down like a sack of shit. We'd have been battered by Chelsea in the next round anyway, but losing like that was awful. A really toxic day.

Groclin in the UEFA cup was my earliest City disappointment. The competition had a fun format during that period as well but we got knocked by a side that I don’t think even exists anymore. Pretty sure the whole season went downhill after that point after a decent start.

As successful as past decade has been plenty of the recent modern fuck ups - Fa Cup has been particularly annoying from the 2-1 loss against Arsenal to Haaland bizarrely giving away a chance to get a first Wembley goal against Palace.

That was extremely annoying.

Wigan cup final wasn’t great either.

And then losing to a team managed by Ten Hag in a fucking final!

Losing to Notts County back in the day for promotion and then in FA Cup wasn’t great either!

Or Shrewsbury

Or Halifax

Or Luton

Or Stockport

And Bury

And Crewe

And Port Vale

And Preston

And York

And fucking Wycombe twice!
Bury was the worst performance I have ever seen from any City team. We were unlucky in some of the others. I saw them all apart from Wycombe away.

Not even close.
1981 Cup Final replay. Nothing as bad before or since, except for the endless tv replays down the years of Ricky effing Villa reminding me of yelling Stop him, stop the bugger and no one in a blue shirt hearing me.
That was a painful Thursday night.watched on tv.
Gutted.

More irritating than annoyed

Letting a 2 goal lead slip away at Portsmouth when going up under Royie.

Owen’s winner at OT. Were we ever going to be better than them?

Middlesbrough at home when Fowler missed the penalty. Thought it would be my only chance to see City in Europe

Spurs in champions league. We had a brilliant team.

Fantastic last sentence a la Pistols

Lots of… the Pollock own goal header
That big lanky fella’s header against us to stop us getting champions league - still annoyed about that!
The Wigan FA cup final defeat- in the Wigan end and then came out of Wembley and the heavens opened and I got drenched
The none Stirling goal against Spurs in the champions league game
The 3- 2 United game where we didn’t get a penalty when Aguero was assaulted by Ashley Young .. I could probably go on a while …
