Except Dickov's it has to be........hmmmm......I can't decide........

Trev at Bradford?
Power at Villa Park?
Ireland v Hamburg?

I'll plump for Tricky Trev in '89.

All good but here's mine;

1. Sir Paul's goal in the Wembley play off - the significance can only be measured by the events over the last 12 months or so! I totally lost it and came up for air dancing with a guy who i had never seen before (or after for that matter!) in my life, i actually remember kissing him on the cheek as well!

2. Stevie Mac's goal in 81 replay - although it had started to kick off in our end by then (full of Spuds!) so i was 'bobbing & weaving'.....that was a rough night!!

3. Hinchy's goal in the 5-1 - Pure class and his face said it all whilst celebrating in front of the Rags who were still left in the Platt Lane!

4. Powers goal at Villa Park - Got us to Wembley!

5. Kennedy's goal at Blackburn and the touchline celebration that followed - just look at the faces!

All wonderful.....wonderful days/nights and looking ofrward to many, many more in the future now!!!
Are you about 16stone and stinking of ale? If so i think i may be the bloke you kissed on the cheek!!!

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

The only goal I've ever burst into tears at was when The Goat hit the equalizer at Blackburn when we were promoted to the prem under Royle. Had loads going on at home etc and the game was just so tense....we'd been battered for the whole match but once that goal went in it all lifted and I knew we would win.

I like thousands of other blues and lots on here seen lots of great goals since the early 70's but one which comes straight into my head is paul Dickov's Wembley 99 last gasp goal which took the game into E.T. and then pens. When Horlock made it 2-1 i still felt gutted and was sure we were staying in that shitty league for another year, but when he hit the ball and it went flying into the roof of the net beating Vince Bartram the feeling was amazing that will take some beating if i see it now it still sends shivers down my spine, look forward reading other blues what City goals meant to them.

definitely agree with this - i was right behind that end and i was sure he was going to sky it!

Absolutely brilliant moment!

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

Probably not an obvious one (not read all the thread though!) but one I really remember was Rosler's goal against Sheffield Wednesday in the 95/96 season at Maine Road.

I was in the Kippax near the away corner; it was the most tense match I can remember at Maine Road, just because we were really in the shit that season and had to win that game to have any chance at all of staying up.

And then when Quinny came on and squared it for Uwe to score, the relief was truely immense.

I remember Chris Evans on Talkshite after the game saying he had been there and how gloomy all the city fans looked; it's called tension you twat!

Anyway, in the end it didn't matter as we went down (the infamous Liverpool 2-2 draw on the final day) but that goal gave us all a bit of hope, at least for a short time.

In the grand scheme of things it's nothing compared to the Dickov goal and so on, but that goal really sticks in the memory for me.

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

Sooo many - a lot of the obvious ones have been covered so here are a few alternatives - no other reason other than they stand out as being particularly special...
Maurizio Gaudino's header to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Maine Road - the only time I have ever seen him head the ball. What a great game that was - he'd have been a city star but for his interest in cars!
Elano v Newvastle - simply the best free kick I have ever seen in the flesh - sublime. My Geordie supporting mate was at the game, just stood up and walked out!
Kinky v Southampton - best goal I have ever seen and a moment of a player's immense brilliance incapsulted in about 10 seconds.
David White - 1st home game of the season against Liverppol in 1991/92 I think. Maine Road was absolutely bouncing that night - didn't even cross the line - but what a match that was!

Finally....

I was at OT for the Munich anniversary derby. Obviously it went absolutely crackers when Vass scored - only as I jumped up I somehow managed to snap my achilles tendon!! How many years had I waited to see us beat that lot at OT, only to spend the day and following week in hospital after my operation. Still, I'd take it everyday if it means we beat that lot!!! Remains one of my favorite goals to this day....

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

SWP's first senior goal v Millwall, I was sat with my Millwall supporting mates who'd got me a ticket as long as I behaved myself (City fans were banned), I wanted to jump up and down I was so happy, but sat on my hands for fear of reprisals. Once I was safely out of Bermondsey I gave my mates some jip though. Great goal as well.

Re: WHICH CITY GOAL GAVE YOU SO MUCH JOY ?

A few non-obvious ones :-

Paul Lake @ Blackpool in the cup - 90th minute scrambled equaliser 1988
David White Vs Huddersfield - the 10th of the afternoon 1987
Keith Curle @ The Swamp 1992
Peter Reid @ Villa, 1st top flight away win in years, 1990

Elano's free-kick against Hamburg... oh wait, it hit the bar
