Rather we bought a striker than another club.
haha yes lolRather we bought a striker than another club.

Most of us don't care too much about the other clubs in CFG. What's made me think more about it was the proposal for Leo to take stock options if and when he joins. I therefore do think having the resources of CFG is a strong selling point for attracting players/investors.
Having a club from France in the CFG Group may also help us to uncover potential African talent from North or Sub Saharan Africa.
Similarly acquiring a 'feeder' club in Portugal may help with Mozambique Angola etc.
There are 2 European countries that we need clubs in: Italy and Holland. When you consider the number of technical players this might identify it's something to consider.
The Asian clubs we have are all well and good but identifying genuine world class talent here is more the long term goal.
For me the critical market is South American specifically Argentina and Brazil. We simply have to create a presence here. I believe the domestic leagues here are chaotic so may not be straight forward.
We have a huge ace in the hole to play here, or rather a collection! Zab, Dinho and Sergio. You would imagine they would have strong links at home for inside knowledge of the local scene.
The other situation is rather closer to home, namely having sister clubs in Scotland or even England. I presume there would be plenty of local resistance to this particularly from our knob head friends.
In an ideal world CFG could expand its portfolio of clubs to include:
Botafogo of Rio de Janeiro.
Garrincha's club. End of. They have history and plenty of support.
Huracan of Buenos Aires. They last won the Primera Division in 1973 but did have cup success in 2014.
Or perhaps Rosario if we sign you know who ....
Turning to Europe first Holland:
Sparta Rotterdam the oldest Dutch club though not a huge stadium.
Torino of Turin. Overshadowed by their cross town rivals. The Grand Torino of the 1940s won 5 consecutive championships and provided 10 of Italy's starting XI in a game in 1947. They were defined by tragedy in 1949 when the plane carrying the team crashed approaching a fog shrouded Turin. 16 players died as did their English coach. The clincher is strong links with City including Joe Hart .
In Portugal I'd suggest Boavista FC of Porto for the reason that they're one of 2 clubs besides the big 3 of Benfica Sporting Lisbon and Porto to have actually won the title.
Others may suggest English and Scottish teams. And what of Germany Greece Turkey or Eastern European clubs. I don't know. In selecting my picks I've been unashamedly sentimental but I'll take Botafogo and Torino any day.
The only thing I can say with any certainty is .... the future's blue ;)
