It is now 30 years since Englishman Howard Wilkinson lifted the premier league trophy. Since that time there have been a mixture of Spanish, German, Italian and South American managers.

It is surely impossible to imagine this happening in Serie A, La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Dutch league.

One thing is for sure it explains why there has been a 56 year wait with no end in sight for England to win a major trophy.

Wilkinson won the last old div 1 iirc.
Not the waistcoat.
Eddie Howe?
Graham Potter? (or is he welsh?)

Graham Potter is the obvious choice for me and will get a top job soon. Maybe even a City job one day.

He has created a proper football system in Brighton that goes beyond few quality players. Take away their 2 star players and the quality of the team doesn't look too different. In the same way we can keep our standard when some good players aren't available. Sign of a very good coach.

I’d say Potter.

I’m not sure I agree with your conclusion though. What about the first 26 years when managers from the British Isles were managing the winning teams and England didn’t win anything? How about when England have gone with the best foreign managers? We still didn’t win.

Can’t see any English manager winning the prem in the foreseeable future to be honest. Potter is doing ok but needs to move up a bit from Brighton and no offence intended to Brighton.
Howe. Nope.

The one thing I would say though is that seems to be a lot more English coaches playing or trying to play football the right way.
More emphasis on technique/touch/control/body shape when receiving the ball.
More playing out from the back and playing in tight spaces. Less lumping the ball up top in the hope of winning the knock downs.

A lot of lower league and non league coaches are trying to play the city way.
I know I’m proper bias and a pep fan boy but he honestly changed football in this country and if we do ever win the euros or World Cup then pep should be credited for this. He has changed the way in which football is viewed in this country and his methods and ideals are shining through.

A lot of youth sides are now implementing the city/pep way of how football should be played.

Just can't see an English man managing at any of the current top clubs.
If someone was able to do a "Leicester", then I see that as the only possibility in the near future.

Sentimentality might play a part like Lampard getting a chance with Chelsea or possibly Gerrard/Rooney returning to their former clubs but I just can't see it in the short term.

Off the top of my head, you missed four nationalities out.
