Which is the more desperate scenario?

Looking at their fixtures and ours before the derby at the swamp, i'm worried that match might be to clinch the league :-(

Is it more difficult to overhaul an 8 point lead with 6 to go or a 12 point lead with 12 to go and why?

Just asking.
The fight's the same. But somebody else fucked up this time.

I beg to differ on some of those:

Saints at home - dominated the first half but they played well for a 15 minute spell in the second half which saw them get their noses in front. Not a great performance but hardly a poor one

Liverpool away - we were second best admittedly but again, it wasn't a poor performance

Stoke away - best we've played there since they came up in 2008 and fully deserved the 3 points. Nothing wrong with the peformance. Poor is taking the piss

Arsenal home - not great by any means but not poor either

Fulham away - a slow start and a dodgy pen for them, but the last 70 minutes was all City. A fully deserved win - again, saying it was poor is taking the piss

West Ham and Chelsea away - we were the better team in both games. Fortunate that West Ham had a goal chalked off but went on to dominate. Poor finishing yes, poor performance no.

Pretty much agree on the rest
West ham and Chelsea we created no chances. Very similar to the QPR performance.

Of course we created chances in all those games - as for QPR, I must've imagined the 3 great saves their keeper pulled off and Zab's header against the bar.

West Ham - West ham started the better got a goal that was wrongly ruled offside, we dominated the possession but very few clear cut chances.

Chelsea - Tight game few chances

Qpr -They probably had the best chance with the one on one, we created three decent opportunities which is to be expected against a team thats only won two games in the whole season. Second half was particularly awful especially when you consider we had the chance of cutting the gap to two points.

Who was the man of the match?

Its clearly much more difficult for City to win 12 consective games than to win 6. Given the number of games and our form its almost certain we will drop further points. If, say, we win 11 and lose 1 of our remaining fixtures we would have done very well.

That would still mean that United would have to lose 5 of their remaining 12 fixtures. Its not that unlikely that they will have a dip in form similar to last season and drop 6-8 points. Any team can have a run of 3 games without winning. But they would have to have major slump for them to lose 4 or 5 games out of 12. That appears to be extremely unlikely.

Presume you mean the QPR game motm was Ceser shows how dire our players were that night.

Who was the man of the match?

Exactly. We actually got behind QPR's defence a fair few times that night and if it wasn't for a tremendous goalkeeping performance we'd have been talking about a thoroughly professional away win where we limited the opposition to just one decent chance.

Maybe I'm getting it all wrong and every time we don't win a game by at least 3 clear goals then that must constitute a poor performance.

after we have both played the next 5 league games i would wager a lot of money the gap will be bigger than 12 points, lets have couple of nice trips to wembley and make some nice signings in the summer

You're mixing the scenario we faced last season and the one we face this season. Last season we did all we could to win the league, but United wouldn't fuck off. In the end they did what we're doing now and fucked it all up, and we capitalised. The way we're playing now, United could still fuck up but we won't be there to capitalise because we're playing shit and are not doing what is required of a team to A) defend it's title and B) catch the team in front of it.

You've already said this in another thread and the answer is the same. There isn't one point you make here that was not made in spades last April.

what a good memory!

Of course it's more difficult for the simple reason we are not playing well and they are on a superb run. Let's see if they struggle at qpr. Bet they don't!

I would be surprised if we are within 15 points by the end of the season.
