The most Underestimated player in my eyes was Alan Oakes, absolutely fantastic player, I honestly believe he could have done a Parker type job?

My mate was detailed to look after Alan Oakes when he first joined City. Roy used to do extra training with him in the afternoons and always says that when it came to free-kicks Oaksie could "bend it like Beckham" before Beckham was even a twinkle in Fergie's eye.

Impossible to imagine how good someone like Colin Bell would have been if he had had the same fitness training and dietry advice that todays players have. Glyn Pardoe was an exceptional full-back and Mike Doyle would have been todays Vincent Kompany.

sorry boys , watched the blues since 1966, all mentioned players fantastic but not a patch on todays pace and tactical play , sorry

Well Im only two years behind you and I can say that your wrong, Colin Bell was no Usain Bolt granted but the extra space he would get these days and the quality of the playing surface would more than compensate for any percieved lack of pace.... These are not CB tinted specs I wear... The Great Man was good enough,, End of

Ken Mulhearn, definitely better than Joe Hart.

Well his haircut was anyway.....

Anyway Joe Hart couldn't fix a leaking ballcock or bleed a radiator like Harry Dowd could.

Malcolm Allison Friday team talk :-

"Right Harry, tomorrow we are playing Arsenal, and they play in Red and White"......

Bell was the better player, but Summerbee would pehaps fit best into a modern squad. His ability to play wide, deep or up front would make him Mancini's ideal player.

Seconded mate.
Bell would plough up and down a mud bath of a pitch for 90 mins.
It would have been intresting if they had the same technology to see how much he covered in a match.
I think only Milner could come near him for stamina in todays team.
