Which players are no longer good enough?

Not good enough - Bony, Delph (could improve under Pep though unlikely), Kolarov, Fernando, Yaya (sadly), Navas (could be useful as sub ONLY)

I like him but not sure he can make the step up.

He should be given a chance at least, for all the years we've played average players, it'd be nice to see a youth product be given that slot instead unless it's Boyata....

I can only see Demi, Bony, Kolarov, Zab and Caballero going.
There won't be any overhaul and its not needed either.
People here suggesting sterling ....amazing City fans to say the least.

I think he's probably better than Delph. Better first touch and passing range. Its just such a huge leap as I said.

You see, we actually get sucked into thinking a player is decent because they play for us and we paid big money for them, and Pep will sort them out, yada yada.

An example, Townsend or Navas - not even close imo, I'd have Andros every day of the week.

I've just watched a lovely run by that left back at Hull thats been talked about, Robertson - lovely run and finish. Meanwhile we have fucking AK

The shite we watch in midfield like Fernando, loads of better players all over the Prem.

I'd clean out:

Bony
Demechelis
Kolarov
Yaya
Fernando
Navas
Delph
Otamendi
Mangala
Hart
Sterling

Who do you think we could realistically sign that is better than Hart?

Genuine question, not having a pop.

No idea mate, not my job. He's obviously a decent keeper, not saying he's shit. but I think he can be improved upon - put it this way, I'd have De Gea, Cech, Lloris, Courtois ahead of him and maybe ones like Forster and Butland too.

edit....not saying they are the ones I'd go for, I'm sure we could get someone like Ter Stegen, but I've not seen enough of the foreign keepers.

Really? Forster? Butland? Jesus wept.

A lot of people want Yaya gone but at least he doesn't treat the ball like it's an unexploded bomb. He's a footballer, Many of the others aren't.

Kolarov's insistence on getting the ball on his left foot doesn't just ruin his many attacking opportunities but it makes him a defensive liability. Given that he has been here a while it's probably easier to get rid of him than some of the more recent arrivals. He is the first out the dorr.

Mangala is another poor passer as are all the other centre backs. At least Vinny when fit is a decent defender. We can't get rid of all of the CBs but we do need a Beckenbauer type. Personally feel Manga is a better defender than Otamendi so I'd put the latter on the flight accompanying Martin back to Buenas Aires.

Fernando is improving with each game although his passing is erratic. But for me he has a role. Not sure what Delph offers. So bye Fabian.

Can't bear to see Jesus hitting the first defender any more so Navas can go despite his impressive work rate. Finally a bit like Delph I can't see what Bony is ever going to offer us.

That's 5 out which is manageable.

be hard to get rid of some with the contracts they are on. Who the fuck would want Kolorov with the wages he will be on. That's going to be a costly loan spell for us to get rid of him

Bony
Sterling
Delph
Yaya Toure (don't mean to offend him by putting him with such trash players but he's finished with us now)
Fernando
Kolarov
Zabaleta (same as with toure, a legend who has declined rapidly)
Navas
Demichelis

All of the above need to be shipped out immediately.

Only one I'd be tempted to keep is Navas as he can offer a lot to the team in terms of work rate and ability on the ball under pressure but ultimately he is no way near clinical enough.

Agreed

Delph found his level at villa, he's way out of his depth playing for us

Bingo, you hit the nail on the head just right there.
We are looking at replacing almost half of our entire squad.
He spend serious money over time on dross signing such as Sinclair, Rodwell, Bony, Garcia, Savic, Fernando, Jovetic, etc... and kept going on.
While we should have promoted youngsters from the EDS and made one or two big key signing per year.
I agree. When you compare our squad to let's say Liverpool or Spurs would you say our squads comfortably better? I woukdnt.

I'd say we are a fair bit better than Liverpool in squad strength and quality. Spurs are a different team alltogether than Liverpool and although I think we have a marginally better squad in quality theirs is younger and improving quickly, and a lot less injury prone.

Not good enough: Bony, Demichellis (sad that Martin has deteriorated so quickly).

Too old to play with the intensity required by Pep: Yaya, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Clichy, Sagna.

Questionable: Willy. Has won some good will after his cup final heroics but it'd be good to have a younger ball playing back up keeper.

I'm happy for Hart, Kompany, Mangala, Otamendi, Denayer, Delph, Fernandinho, Fernando, Silva, Nasri, Navas, Sterling, De Bruyne and Aguero to be in the squad next year.

It seems like Gundogan is in the bag and he will be a huge signing.

I'd take Jovetic back if Inter don't want him. Pep could get a tune out of him and he has more technical ability in his injured little toe than Bony does.

I would say we have still a slight edge on the whole league, but it is not what it's used to be during the 2011/2012 season.
For me, that was us at our highest strength, i get goosebumps just remembering teams dreading to come play at " Fortress Etihad ", but it was a long time ago in a footballing galaxy far away...

Honestly, when injury free and on song, our actual strongest eleven can batter close to any team in Europe :
Hart- Sagna - Kompany - Otamendy - Clichy - Fernh - Yaya - Nasri - Kdb - Silva - Aguero
Problem is our bench lost significant strength year after year after year, to the point that you just can't bare the loss in quality from subbing Kun for Bony,
or Fernh for whoever you want to field.

All of our fullbacks, Fernando, Delph, Toure, Bony. All either past their best or never quite good enough in the first place.

Navas a decent squad player but shouldn't be in our first 11.

Jury still out on Mangala, Otamendi, Sterling but I'm starting to get a bit worried.

Kompany - who knows what to expect from him next season.

Silva - in decline, but it's unclear how much as his injury problems this year haven't helped. Would be foolish to rely on him being the difference in the future though.

Theres so much work to do over the summer. For now we absolutely have to finish fourth and I would still prioritise that above anything else for the rest of this season.
